Still hungry ????

Recommended Posts

Just had my first fill of 3ccs a week ago and I am hungry ALL the time. I think I have already gained all the weight I lost on the pre and post op diet and I am only 3 weeks post surgery. Hope this gets better, after all this money I'm spending! What is the likelihood I will reach "green zone" after 2nd fill? Will my appetite at least diminish?

I had first fill of 3 cc also. I haven't felt much of a change. I haven't gained but I also haven't lost any more weight. I feel like I am restricting myself more than the band is at this point which sometimes still leaves me hungry or frustrated. I am going on the 7/10 and I will see how much more they are willing to put in. Hope this gets easier soon!

My first fill was 4 weeks after surgery...4cc's....2nd fill was 2 cc's 4 weeks after that....during that time I gained weight....

Took 3 good fills, 12 weeks after surgery before I started to tell a difference....and that was not easy...not at first, took a whole year from surgery to get into that "Groove"

Thanks for the replies. I was beginning to believe that I am somehow resistent to the power of the band ????. I get fill this Friday and hope it will make it easier to make the right food choices because its practically impossible for me right now.

Today I am 2 months post op. I had my second fill 2 days ago. I only lost 3 lbs. in 3 weeks with the 3 cc. Fourth of July weekend was full of temptation. Potato salad, macaroni salad and tons of grilled food. I managed to just eat my slider burger that I brought and then was pretty full and ok with very light snacking. I now feel a little tighter. I forgot to ask how much more they put in the band. I just ordered a kids meal at Cracker Barrel last night and was good with that. Eating at social times is the hardest for me. I also started exercising today besides walking. I bought the 21 day fix with the Portion Control containers and I highly recommend it! They have a modified version of every exercise. During the week I have my routine with what I bring for Breakfast and lunch and that seems to be working. Good luck, I think it's hardest in the beginning and will get easier. I hope to lose 2 lbs. a week now. ????

I have had one fill which has made no difference. In fact, I swear I'm eating more, but I think that's because I'm feeling anxious about whether it will work for me. The more anxious I feel the more I eat which is not ideal. I'm convinced though once I know it's working I will calm down and hopefully get on with my life without obsessing. My second fill is on Monday. My surgeon thinks it might take 3 fills before there is a real impact. Fingers cross it will come sooner!

I had my first fill five weeks post surgery. Unfortunately, I seem to be more hungry all of a sudden.

You may need more fill, but also it is important to distinguish between head hunger and real hunger.

When I think I'm hungry, I ask myself if some chicken breast and green Beans sounds good.

If it doesn't, but "cake" sounds really good, then I know it is not real hunger, but head hunger.

I have been banded exactly 2 years this month. I must admit, I haven't really followed the restrictions or eating the correct food, etc, not until recently. I found a new surgeon in August, and I think I am finally in the green zone. I have lost 13 pounds in 2 months, so I am on the right track. I too feel hungry, but when I eat, I realize that is really in my head. I can only eat a very very small amount of food now. There are times that my head says I am famished, and want to eat a "real" meal, however when I set down to eat, and eat a few forks full, I am done. So, you will get there. I have a 5 3/4 cc fill now.

I had my first fill about 4 weeks after surgery. He put 2 ccs in, which brought me to 6 cc. I went for my 2nd appt this week and I had lost 20 pounds between appts. He said I may not be "in the green zone" but that I was doing really well and he didn't feel like I needed a fill at that moment.

The secret for me had been all about my head game. I choose simple foods that are easy to Portion Control. I eat for a certain length of time and stop. I am eating 4-6 times a day but my doc said it was working for me so it was ok.

Exercise has been key as well. I'm not doing anything fancy- just walking but I've increased my length to 2 miles a walk.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
