Going back to school

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I am scheduled for July 16th to have my VSG, but I still have my doubt that I will be denied.

If I do get denied, maybe I will have to fight them for like a month which then the Fall semester will begin.

I am an engineering student going to senior year this fall, do you recommend having the surgery during the semester as I can only take a week off until I go back to school?

First, don't worry too much about being denied unless it actually happens!

But if you do have to wait, I think it's a good gamble to do it during the semester, especially if you can do something like schedule it in conjunction with fall break to give yourself a couple extra days. Once you are scheduled, let your professors know a couple of days before your surgery that you will be having surgery. You don't have to tell them what kind if you don't want to. Almost certainly be accommodating and help you out in terms of easing back into your classes and projects. Speaking from the other side of the podium, I can say that we pretty much all do really care about our students and want you to succeed. Good luck!

Thanks I hope I get approved and not worry about all that stuff because school comes first and I just can't afford failing my classes.

Congratulations on taking this step

I would recommend NOT getting it done during the semester. Although I had a very easy recovery, I definitely was in a brain fog for about a month after surgery (and very distracted in the weeks leading up to surgery). You need all of your focus for finishing up your degree so the more rest you can get around the time of your surgery the better.

Good luck with your surgery and your senior year!

Agree with leaving at least 3-4 weeks recovery before returning to school. Brain fog is real - the combination of fatigue, pain and pain meds, and uber-concentration on hydration is taxing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
