Problems with nausea....5 weeks post-op

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am beginning week 5 post-op. I had my first post op visit with the surgeon last week (June 17) and I lost 33 lbs by the end of week 4. However since Thursday, 5 days ago, I've been feeling very nauseous when I eat or drink ANYTHING, including a few sips of Water. I have not introduced anything new to my diet. Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't. Are you also experiencing any reflux?

Are you getting enough Fluid? That in itself will cause your symptoms.

You might call your doc and let him know, they can prescribe something for nausea which will help.

Don't let yourself get dehydrated.

I had the gastric bypass rather than the sleeve to eliminate reflux, as I have lesions on my esophagus due to reflux.

As for getting enough fluids, I try to drink Water all day long, however even sipping Water causes nausea. It's the strangest thing. I was fine for weeks, then suddenly nauseous all the time.

No, I'm not on any gallbladder meds and I do try to chew my food quite a bit. I also try to take breaks in between bites. Not sure what the cause is. I was wondering if it could perhaps BE my gallbladder?

I had similar symptoms around the same time as you, my surgeon prescribed a pill, I will try to remember the name... Used it for about a week or so... And have never felt nausea after that.

Hi, I am 15 weeks post op and I am on Nexium 2x a day.

Prior to the gastric bypass my reflux was very bad. I was hoping it would be gone after the surgery but unfortunately I still have it, though not strong has before.

God willing it will get better where I don't need the Nexium anymore.

Will tell you I don't regret the decision of having the surgery!

Hope you feel better soon! Definitely call the doctor.

Blessings....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
