Food after surgery

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if there are foods I will NEVER eat again. For example I like mac and cheese and potato salad. I also love regular salad. Can someone let me know?? Even A small portion.

I am 9 months post op. I can eat anything but periodically eat something that just doesn't agree with me. It is a life style change and you won't be able to eat a whole pizza again or very large amounts. Was the best decision I ever made.

Chines66, it is really trial and error for a while. I'm about two months post-op and am still trying things from before. I have been lucky not to throw up at all, or find anything my sleeve doesn't like. I wish I had better answers for you but it's truly trial and error. Pasta is high in carbs so you'd need to be careful with the mac and cheese; potato salad was actually recommended to me by my surgeon during my pureed/soft foods stage. I eat it very rarely and very little, as potatoes are starch and expand in my stomach, disallowing me to get enough Protein per meal.

It's a balance of getting your protein in, you're so concentrated on that that depending, you won't even have room or desire an old craving.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
