June 29th Bypass Surgery

Recommended Posts

How is everyone doing today? 4 days out and I feel I am now starting to turn the corner. sleeping better and starting on my Protein replacement. I've reduced the dosage on my pain med but not the frequency which I think helps me function.

My stomach is still very swollen and full of Fluid. It may be a week or so before I start to see a change in my weight. Thinking positive and long term!

I'm happy to hear you are starting to feel better!! I'm one pound down since I was weighed in before surgery. But I still feel hungry. It doesn't help that my husband is watching the food network. But I know if I eat something it's going to hurt so it's definitely not worth it. I'm having a hard time getting my 40 grams of Protein in with the Isopure. Not that I dont like it, but after 3 sips my stomach hurts a little so I stop and then forget to go back for more. I guess I have to get into that habit.

I just had surgery on the 30th and this is my first day posting to any forums. I had the gastric sleeve. Hoping to find some encouraging friends that can relate to what I am going through

Kell,

Me too ! I'm still here, I'm getting out tomorrow. This has been such a

Bad experience for me. The pain is ridiculous, when I go for a walk, I still can't stand up straight. I got my drain out today and now I'm on Tylenol 3. I got my drain out today which was awkward and bloody, and now I'm just trying to release gas whenever I can. We're almost done with the worst part girl !

Ah TeeNahh

I'm sorry you had a drain and so much pain. I was just telling my husband, "what the hell did I just do!" The gas pain, the bloating, the food cravings, I am struggling a lot. I got no sleep in the hospital which sucked and I'm sleeping as much as I can now.

On pain meds for sure! I have a sharp pain in my right side sometimes so I will have to ask dr about that on Monday. Trying to be positive but it's hard. Plus, my addiction was food and I'm struggling saying goodbye to it. I guess I'm just in a funk.

Happy 4th everyone!! Today was a true test for me. Independence Day is my all time favorite holiday and it is surrounded by food, friends, and fireworks. My absolute favorite thing to eat is grilled food. Watching my friends indulge in all the goodies while I sipped my Isopure was hard. And I did not budge! Partially because I know if I ate it I would be sorry! But now that I'm home I'm realizing life isn't always about food. Even though I wanted it, I still had a great time with friends and still laughed.

How was everyone else's 4th? Anyone else have temptations? I hope you all had a fun, safe, and healthy holiday!

Temptations bad today foe sure. I so wanted a nice big juicy burger with all of the fixings and some baked Beans. But I held strong and just watched everybody else do that

One of the reasons why I had this surgery was because if I didn't have something physically stopping me from eating unhealthy foods I would never achieve my weight loss goals. I know eventually that day will come where I have to resist my urge to indulge again, but by then I will have lost enough to know it isn't worth it to eat so much. If it wasn't for this surgery physically stopping me right now I would have caved and not gotten back on the eating healthy wagon again.

Today was definitely difficult for me while everyone was eating. I wanted a hot dog so bad! But I eventually snapped out of it and ate my 1 oz of Soup and went on with the evening. But seriously I can't wait for some actual food.

What diet transition do you have next week?

It's crazy how different everyone's eating regimen is. Since I got home from the hospital I've been on a liquid diet which has consisted mostly of 1oz of something every 15 minutes but 2 of those have to be Water or a water substitute and the other 2 can be something like: sf Jello, sf pudding, Soups (liquid or creamy no chunks), Protein Shakes, cream of wheat, malt-o-meal, yogurt, etc. Then when I see my doctor on my 2 week follow up he will let me know if I can start soft foods. Scrambled eggs here I come! ???? I can't complain though in 6 days I've lost 15 pounds. woohoo!! How are you doing on weight loss?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
