Encouragement from the "Other Side" - The Proof is in the Pictures

Recommended Posts

Livvsmum, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this and the link to your blog. I went back to the start and read the entire thing yesterday. It's kinda funny, we have several things in common..similar start weights, both married young and have good size families, both work in higher Ed., and I believe we are close in age. Your blog was very encouraging to me in that it was real about not only the good days but the rough ones as well. It gave me hope that I can do this and do it well despite the bad days that happen. I have thought about wls for years and finally have insurance that will cover it. My first appt. with the surgeon is on July 9th. Thanks again for sharing your story.

Wow! Thank you so much for reading! I always think it's so cool when I'm able to encourage or inspire someone with my journey. That is neat that we have so many similarities. And awesome that you have insurance that will approve your surgery. Good luck on your journey!

I'm reading your blog... From the start... And I have to say that you can put a little check mark next to your bucket list item of helping others in the same situation. I'm currently on day 2 of my 7 day pre op diet, hungry and grumpy as hell, but your words are filling me up. While I'm still scared about the actual surgery and the recovery afterwards (Pain! Nooooooo) your blog gives me hope that everything will be alright if I take care of me and do what I need to do in order to get healthy. Thank you so much for sharing. Back to reading... I'm on your post op month 9 and I just added your book recommendation to my goodreads list. ????

"I'm hungry and grumpy as hell, but your words are filling me up".

That literally made me tear up. This is the sweetest post ever, Thank you SO much. There are days I struggle and it's posts like this and messages like this that i receive that keep me going on the straight and narrow. Hang in there. You are definitely in the hardest part. In a good month or so you are going to be on the other side of it, feeling good, and dropping the weight like you wouldn't believe. Just stick to the plan and do the hard emotional work that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
