getting cold feet

Recommended Posts

Agggh! So, today I will complete my last pre-surgical insurance requirement. Prayerfully I will be approved. But now comes all the self doubt in:

  • "Am I making the right decision"....
  • "I wont be able to eat many things"....
  • "Will I have the self control to stick to my nutritional guidelines to be successful"....
  • "Will this procedure really be effective"...
  • "This is an addiction, an addiction to food, can and will I be able to do this"...
  • "or am I trying to talk myself out of it"...

Your feedback, insight and experience's are appreciated.

Take a deep breath and relax a little bit. You already went through all the reasons why you should do this for yourself. Get that list back out and focus on it.

Stop worrying about all the things that could, might happen because they are so rare.

Remember in the beginning your restrictions are significant but I can eat anything I want. I just do it in very tiny portions. Most of that stuff I really don't care if I ever eat it again. Your tastes really change.

Don't worry and keep your eye on the prize

I won't lie, I too had cold feet. Of course I was 8 days into my preop liquid diet. I bared myself of excuses. I was scared. The day I went in for surgery I just knew I wouldn't go through with it. My surgeon walked in to talk to me preop. He said if you follow the plan legitimately and your health doesn't change at all, I will give you back every dime you and your insurance company have paid me to do the surgery. He said its normal to be unsure, to get cold feet. I'm a few days from being 2 months post op, I have lost total 61 lbs. my blood pressure is well within normal range, my thyroid has leveled out, I most importantly have lost weight. I feel like a teenager again.

Thank you TXMissy and DJmor for replying. I keep rereading both of your comments to help keep me centered! Much appreciated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
