Typically with WLS hairloss is a very common side-effect/experience that people have. I know I have been experiencing it a LOT the last 2ish months. I get in protien and am taking Biotin and every other suggestion my doctor has to help with hairloss and hairgrowth.

I was just wondering how other people deal with the Hair loss. What kind of vitimins and such do you take and what has helped either keep your hair/help it grow faster? Also what kind of hair syles would be good to help cover up any hairloss or make it seem less noticeable?

Nothing really helps. I have increased my Protein and my hair is not falling as much but I am not sure that's what did it. I too take Biotin. I would say I have about half as much hair as I had before. Most of the loss occurred around 5 - 6 months post surgery. One week it was horrible, my hair fell in bunches. I would run my hand trough my hair and I was sure by the end of the day I would be bald. Interestingly enough at that time I was losing weight slowly. I say this because I was thinking the rapid weight loss was probably not good.

I hope my hair grows back. The thinning is obvious around my temples and at the top of my head I have a lot less volume.

Another thing that happened around the time of the rapid Hair loss was I got dandruff. My head was itchy and I developed Patches of dandruff which I have never had.

I have lost 3/4 of my volume. I take Biotin everyday and seem to have good growth coming back but it just won't stop falling out.

I went with a short style so it is not so noticeable.

Biotin 10,000.

Coromega squeeze packet daily. (Find it on amazon)

And a castor oil or coconut oil treatment at least weekly to your scalp and roots.

This may seem strange, but I did this and in 3 weeks I hardly noticed any shedding and at 6 weeks regrowth. I've heard that adding extra zinc to your Vitamin regimen works great too but i personally never added that to my routine.

This Hair loss thing really concerns me. My hair is extremely thin as it is. I can already see my scalp. If I lose anymore I will be bald!

I also use a brown tinted dry Shampoo to hide my scalp, it works wonders and makes your hair look thicker

So Biotin helps reduce the Hair loss? I am only 2 months out from my gastric bypass and the barber already commented my hair was getting thinner :(

I am 7 months post op and started losing a lot if hair right around the 3 month mark. I started taking It Works hair skin and nails Vitamins and I have seen a dramatic increase in the growth. I have tons if new hair coming in all over my head. It really does work. It saved me because I have very thin hair to start with as well.

It's supposed to help your skin, hair and nails. I started taking it a couple of months before my surgery.

I'm a little past 4 months post op and I noticed about a couple weeks ago while I was brushing my hair that kIumps of my hair on the brush coming out. I had a post op appointment with my surgeon and he suggested I take hair and nail Vitamins. I also have a couple of people that I know who have had WLS tell me this is normal and it will subside. I myself have curly hair but do notice the thinning towards the crown of my head. I plain sucks but I figure, it's all in the process...it will grow back. It's normal.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
