Difficult time between band removal surgery and sleeve surgery...need support!

Recommended Posts

Hi... I am struggling emotionally and amazed at just how fast weight has gone up since my band was removed on May 8th. Almost nothing fits me and I had to go buy some fat pants. My weight is up about 20 lbs already and I still have 6 weeks until my sleeve surgery, so 4 till my pre surgery diet starts. So unhappy and feeling ugly and blue.

That's why I refused to have the slipped band removed until the sleeve was approved, might have been a bad choice with regard to my health though. Done now just waiting for my date with the surgeon.

The only way I was able to keep all the weight off after I had the fill taken out of my band was by hitting the gym hard and often. 6-7 days/week. Did that for five months and was able to keep all the weight off. Hard, because I definitely had no restriction and could eat whatever and however much I wanted.

I thought I had no restriction when Fluid was out but believe me all new ball game of hunger when band is out completely.

I got myself a personal trainer......mostly workout in the pool.....as my joints are killing me from the added poundage. Guess I have to step it up more....and be patient. Got my first letter from Cigna yst. looking for more info.......at least it wasn't a rejection letter.....fingers stilled crossed.

Yeah the hunger is difficult and constant with the band out. Just doesn't get any easier. Can't wait for that sleeve. Working out has never been my thing and I have every excuse from no gym on the island where I live to knee pain to no time to tired after long day of work. I do have to go up and down 3 flights of stairs several times during the day so at least that is something.

I had Fluid removed from my band in 2003....gained weight for sure as it was completely ineffective. Then I had the band removed in Sept 2011 - I was shocked at the 24/7 hunger and drive to eat. The only way I managed it was eating very low carb but I still gained.

It was miserable but the good thing that came from it is I had NO DOUBT I needed the sleeve.

I have been quite shocked too! I am up about 7lb since April 15th!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
