Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC

I've read mostly positive posts about Dr. Ortiz and OCC on this and other forums. A few people don't seem to like his "celebrity" status and I did find some older complaints about their bands. Anyone out there with bad experiences or complications with their sleeves from him?

You are all going to do great! Nothing to be freaked out about, you are in wonderful hands.

Kindle, HAF & Adoptivemom, I'll be there 12/15 - 12/20. Hope we can all connect!

Sorry - 12/15 - 12/19.

Clear liquids is the first three days after surgery, that's when you do broth, sf jello water etc. yes, the preop is including the protein shakes.

And just liquids 2 days Pre-Op (no greens or yogurt)

I look forward to having some broth with all of my fellow sleevers in TJ next week :) 6 days and counting! If any of you want to add me on Facebook it's www.facebook.com/heartsofstone :)

I'm a bit over 9 weeks out and am dizzy when I stand up. I stopped my blood pressure med and have been paying attention to fluids but this is keeping me from doing the things I need to do. any other ideas?

Can I just go on the record and say I'd really like a chicken strip? I'd sell my second born for one.

That is all.

Sorry to interject, today was my one month surgiversary. Took my weight and measurements for the first time.

Lost 14 pounds preop, and now 15 post op for a total of 29 pounds :) I'm down 1" in my neck, 2.5" in my waist and 4" in my hips. Didn't take leg or arm measurements unfortunately. Could be more but at least its something. And weighing monthly has prevented stress over stalls so far so that's a positive. Hurrah!

Oh mouse that is so awesome!!! I just told my hubby tonight he needs to hide the scale! I weigh like 3 times a day! And I had a 2 week long stall which I finally broke through! So here are my stats! Surgery was 11/6.

Lost 6 inches in the waist and 4 in the hips and 1 in my neck! Soooo happy!

I am getting excited about my surgery date and meeting fellow sleevers! I visited with my local doctor and filled him in on my plans. He thinks I'm crazy, but is supportive and gave me a script for phenegran (anti nausea). A recent sleever, a nurse in the US, suggested that I get this to take with me. She said the nausea was awful for her. I know everyone is different, but I would rather be ready. Any more tips for us traveling next week? Especially advice for those traveling alone.

I had surgery with Dr. Ortiz @ OCC July 11. lost 116pounds/ no problems. Definitely plan on going back for plastics in September.

That's amazing!! Congratulations on your success!

I had my sleeve in Aug and am very pleased with the results and am happy to recommend the OCC. Dr Ortiz and Dr Hernandez are terrific and despite Dr O's celebrity status, he's a good surgeon with tons of experience and that's the key. Can totally understand your nerves, skepticism and hesitation - I think everyone felt the same way who chose to go to MX for the surgery. Do your research, speak to people, speak to the OCC and go with whomever you feel comfortable. I have no regrets. Good luck!
