Peanut Butter in my protein shake?, please advise asap!

Recommended Posts

Having my dinner Protein shake now....

Just had my surgery Thursday, everything is going good..

I have been having Protein shakes, broth, Tomato Soup & other liquids

Can I put Peanut Butter in my chocolate Protein Shake mix?

Is it just anything that can fit thru a straw? ? So..anything at all that will?

I am just trying to follow the preop diet they gave me perfectly but I am unclear on that part.

Please help! I am so tired of Protein Shakes lol..need ways to spice them up without adding things I shouldn't though.

Peanut Butter is considered a solid Protein and should not be included in your diet at this early stage. Only Clear Liquids unless you were told different by your doctor.

I always use Peanut Butter...along with 1/2 banana ...sometimes chocolate....TASTES GREAT!!!

I use just about anything my imagination can come up with when making high Protein smoothies.

I also use a high end blender...so you don't even know it's there except for the taste....

However, you are post-op...so you need to follow your Dr.'s post op directions.

I like to take the chocolate Premier Protein shake and put the high Protein Powder Peanut Butter in it and blend. Omg so good. Really helps with those sugar cravings.

It's not something I ever actually did myself but my post-op diet was all about consistency of the food not what it actually was. So Peanut Butter if blended or puréed into whatever was the correct consistency for that particular stage would have been absolutely fine,

Well I hope you will be ok too. Of course you might not be! Did your doctor tell you to eat solid food (and very low nutritional value and high fat food at that) a week post-op? Mine told me, as the majority of doctors tell patients that eating solids too soon risked damaging internal sutures before they were fully healed. This can be a major factor on problems further down the line. A major study by Stroh and Manger found the incidence of slips a few years down the line was often related to eating solid food too soon,

I must have had the strictest surgeon ever. it was 3 weeks before I could eat solid food.. I graduated slowly . and No Straws EVER. No Carbonated drinks EVER. we had a big book that took each day and phase and mapped it out. I believe because I followed his instructions to the letter that I have done so well. no complications . Some of the way I eat now is second nature now. Ask your Dr. before you do anything, that is the best course of action. I also had a great nutritionist and support group .

Sharpie, my doc had me do six weeks of full liquids post op. Longest month and a half ever. Great weight loss though.

Vanessa, until there is enough saline in your band for it to dramatically slow the passage of food, there is nothing to dim hunger. We are all different on how much saline this takes.

At the moment you are on a good old-fashioned pre-surgery diet! It's up to you if you can eat the limited amount needed to lose weight Be patient. It may need several fills before the band helps you.

@@nessieann60 It is my choice always to have my band loose enough to eat all foods, although some require care.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
