I am 7 days into Optifast and 7 days until REY surgery. Hunger pangs are constant. Will they be gone after surgery. Im concerned because my old stomach will still exist.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, your hunger will be gone after surgery and you will actually have to remember to eat.

The liquid diet is rough but so worth it in the end. I found that if I sipped on homemade warm chicken broth, my hunger pains got much better. The canned stuff would not do it for me but delicious homemade broth that was savory and salty really helped a ton.

Good luck! You are almost there an d you can do it!

broth and V8 juice really did the trick for me. To make the hunger pangs go away. My surgery is tomorrow, and I have gotten over the hump of I don't even care about food at this point. I skipped my broth, V8 and didn't finish my Jello last night. I just didn't even need it. Body adjusting I suppose.

In the liquid diet I found drinking Water and chewing gum to be my salvation against hunger. Now at 7 weeks post op I feel hunger and try to establish between head hunger, stomach hunger and thirst..... It's frustrating.

@@Trucent I'm 4 weeks post-op and no hunger pangs. I did Optifast 2 weeks prior. Here's how I made it fun and tasty. I used mostly the ready made Optifast drinks and I'd add ice and flavored liquid Stevia to change things up. Using my NutriBullet made all the difference in the world! Root beer Stevia and ice to vanilla for a root beer float. Valencia orange to vanilla for a dreamsicle. Warm Tazo chai tea with cinnamon Stevia to vanilla for a delicious warm treat. One of my favorites was adding the chocolate to a cup of coffee with a lil chocolate Stevia for a decadent hot chocolate. I almost forgot, the pumpkin spice and the vanilla shake with ice in the NutriBullet tasted like a Starbucks Frappuccino - Yum! Two weeks is a long time to just drink but I loved it and my nutritionist couldn't believe how creative I got :D Best of luck on your surgery. It's the BEST thing I've ever done!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
