So I'm reading over my approval letter and I noticed that they only approved me for 1 night stay ???? after surgery. I thought at least 2 was standard, 1 night just doesn't seem long enough.

Really? Did you feel ok enough to go home after one day?

Yes, I did. I felt good and it was nice to go home where someone wasn't poking and prodding me every hour.

I had my surgery at 11:00 am on Monday and they started the discharge process on Tuesday about 3:00 pm. I left the hospital by about 6:00 pm.

I think this is fairly common unless you have complications.

Same here. Just had surgery on Monday. Surgery at 11 and home Tuesday afternoon. My pain level was still high but since my vitals and bloodwork were fine, they went ahead and discharged. Took a couple days but it does get better.

I'm still pre-op so I don't know REALLY anything about the pain/discomfort after surgery. But my last baby (a year ago tonight--heh!) it occurred to me how seriously awful hospitals are to rest in. The room was like a parade! I freaked when they even suggested keeping me another night. If you tolerate the liquid pain meds (maybe make sure of that before you leave?), home is almost always better. But, I don't know, maybe some hospitals are better at making you feel cared for.

Thanks for responding! I was a little worried for a minute there. I thought 2-3 was standard. I had my 4th c-section 11 months ago and I always stay 5 days. I guess if one day is common than I'm sure it will be fine.

The difference is a c-section is an open surgery where bypass is laparoscopic. If for some reason they had to switch to an open surgery then they would probably keep you longer.

I know the feeling though, I am having a 3 level spinal fusion done in my cervical spine which is a very big surgery. They will for sure keep me one night and possibly two. When I had one level fused in my lumbar spine I was in the hospital 5 days, went home for 2 and ended up back in for another 5 because the pain was excruciating.

Sometimes I wonder what the heck these insurance companies are thinking.

But I do know this, the chance of getting rest in the hospital are nil, the chance of getting an infection is very high. The best thing is to go home as soon as possible.

You will do great!

I had gastric bypass Monday and stayed one night and went home by noon Tuesday! It's pretty standard to only stay one night.

Sounds good to me, as a nurse I know its a bother for my patients to have me coming in their room for what seems to be every minute. So when I get my surgery, I'm praying for a 1 night stay.

Yeah it sounds like one night is pretty standard. I have 7 kids at home and a husband so I don't think I would have mind the extra night haha!

My insurance also covers one night stay.

What sort of revision? I am having band converted to sleeve.

Lexiemia I am having revision from band to bypass. I have huge reflux issues so bypass is best for me. Although i would have chosen it anyways.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
