@@Rev Del I am so happy to hear someone else with this same issue. I had surgery the same day as you and I also weigh every day. Week one I lost ten pounds. Week two, only one. This week I have gained for two days, then down less than I gained, gain more for a couple days, down, gain a bunch. I now weigh back to almost as high as I was on April 28th!!! My one sanity saving grace is that my body fat percentage is going down and my size has gone down a bit, but the numbers thing is disheartening. I have gone through, and am going through, too darn much to not see the scale numbers go down. A stall I could tolerate, but to keep going up? Not cool!

@@OregonTeacher I feel good, and frankly I think the scale must not be a true way to gauge progress...I am the say way with clothes...I can fit some smaller jeans...and feel good in them...but whats up with the scale casue thats what everyone wants to know...."How much weight have you lost?"....you know what I mean?

@@Rev Del, I know exactly what you mean. I want to see that scale number go down, too. Sadly, it is the defining "proof" that this surgery is working. I know it will come, but, and I say this like a three year old in the middle of a tempur tantrum, I want it now!

@@OregonTeacher MY DR. Told me...."SOFT FOODS" scrambled eggs, mashed taters, oatmeal....but frankly those are all carbs....where do you get your Protein from? I have an appointment with the dietitian in about 4 weeks....I know I am way off on the IDEAL DIET AT THIS POINT...

@@Rev Del, I drink one Protein Shake per day (32 grams) and then use a combo of 1/4 cottage cheese (6.5 grabs), 1/4 cup Cream of Wheat (3 grams), 1/4 cup Greek Yogurt (6.5 grams), 1/4 cup milk (2 grams), and the occasional meal of two egg whites (7 grams). Not too exciting, but I can usually hit my current requirement of 60 grams per day. I was able to raise my Protein amount a bit within my shake by using unflavored Protein Powder with milk and adding one packet of Diet Hot cocoa mix which has 2 grams of protein.

@@Rev Del, When I was at the soft foods stage, I made sure to avoid carbs as much as possible. I lived on Protein Shakes, SF Greek yogurt, soft scrambled eggs, SF Protein pudding (this stuff tastes like %#<>% but it really packs the protein), and puréed meats and veggies. Thankfully, I only had to do soft foods for a week. My plan kept me on full liquids for the first five weeks, purées for a week, soft foods for a week and then normal foods as tolerated. I'm no nutritionist, but I believe that a protein forward diet really helps with weight loss.

Rev. Del, also had surgery on April 21st. Losing weight very rapidly. Against advice, I don't weigh everyday, but rather once a week as I get too much in my own head if I gain a pound on a day. I agree about what to eat -- focusing on 75% Protein intake (mushy soft cooked turkey or chicken; cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese) and 15% veges (canned green beans; sweet potato) and 10% fruit (no-syrup canned pears, soft applesauce), and as few straight carbs as possible other than an occasional tiny cracker to chew thoroughly. Of course, even dairy has carbs but does not concern me. I was addicted to straight carbs for 50 years, it is great not to crave them now, no room in the pouch!! You will get through this, and welcome.

I had surgery on March 8, and at about 3 weeks I stopped losing and actually "gained" 5 pounds! I read a lot of information about the 3-week stall, which appears to be pretty common, and I just kept doing what I was doing-60 grams or Protein daily with a combination of drinks and food (a LOT of tuna salad and cottage cheese) and the stall lasted about 10 horrible days. I have finally dropped that weight plus another 2 pounds. I felt the same way; like that was all the weight I was ever going to lose! This forum is awesome for encouragement. I am so glad I came here to get great advice and to find out that all of this is perfctly normal. Keep eating and drinking Protein, limit carbs (I try to stay under 25 grams but occasionally end up at around 40-50 for the day) and get plenty of Water. The extra weight (for me I think I might have gotten a little dehydrated when I was at my lowest weight) and the stall WILL end. :)

Surgery 4/23 it's up and down a lot. I'm still weighting everyday but I try not to worry about it right now. I definitely feel like it should be melting off no more than I'm eating but my body has different plans ! Lol

I had my surgery on the 18th and weigh myself everyday along with power walking for 30min daily. This is week 2 and I gained 3lbs so far and it is very upsetting I mean I didn't put myself through all this. Then I remembered when you workout you gain muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. My legs are slimming and clothes are fitting. So what if this week the scale isn't moving it will soon enough. So to all of you if you are doing any kind of workout your scale is going to move up before it goes down.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
