My last week weigh in I lost 14 lbs and I thought that was how every week was going to go.

Going to try REALLY hard not to laugh at that, but you seriously thought you were going to lose 2 pounds a day for any significant period of time?!?!!? It is VERY normal to lose a lot in the first week or two and then see a plateau as your body rebounds from the shock. And you will definitely NOT be losing 2 pounds a day. You might lose 2 pounds in A day due to Water retention and release, but you won't be losing 2 pounds EVERY day. Don't fret! You WILL lose the weight eventually, it will just likely not be nearly as quickly as your unreasonable expectations. This isn't a race. It's the rest of your life. If it takes you one day or one week or one month to lose a pound, as long as you are still losing, you will get to where you are going.

No, you still lost weigh so its not a stall. Truth is you won't lose 14lbs a week until you hit goal. You may lose more than 1lb a week, but those initial big numbers go away pretty quickly. 1-2 lbs a week is more the norm.

My feelings were hurt for sure when I got on the scale and since My Doctor told me at least 3-5 lbs a week would be my goal I was shocked at the 1 lb. I've lost an average of 2.5 on weight watchers .. And had high expectations with this tool in place. Just a little disappointed... Some ppl are a little rude on the forum.. No need to laugh ????????

No seriously, you have no stats posted except your beautiful face on your profile, so I'm not sure how much you have to lose. You will lose quite a bit at first. But it does slow down as time goes by and you get thinner. You are going to have amazing weight loss months, and not so amazing months as your body adjusts. And some stalls. Expect the stalls. Just keep doing what you're supposed to do (move a little, drink your Water, eat your Protein and stay away from complex carbs) and you will continue to lose!

If your Dr. predicted 3-5 lbs. a week then that is probably accurate. He knows your variables such as starting weight, height, etc. But, that would be an average over a long period of time not a weekly guarantee. Our bodies are complex systems so we don't lose weight on a strict timetable. You may lose a lot one week, and very little the next. You may not lose anything one week, but lose inches.

In the long term you will see progress.

My strategy is to: stay off the scale and only weigh at my Doctors appointments, get all my Protein and Water in every day, and exercise when I am able (with a goal of at least 60 minutes a day).

I can only control the inputs. What the scale says is none of my business for now.

My measures of success will be the things I will be able to do as my physical limitations disappear.

I wish you all the best on your journey.

1-2 pounds a week is pretty standard, especially past the first couple of months. Heck, I barely lost over 2 pounds last MONTH. Now that I am 8 months out, I have pretty low expectations, so long as the scale keeps generally moving in the right direction overall.

And I really didn't mean to laugh AT you. Just with being 8 months out now and fighting so hard for every pound, the idea of losing 2 pounds a day seems so completely absurd to me.

Your doctor's estimate of 3-5 pounds a week is fairly reasonable for the first couple of months. Many do lose slower than that, but you've already lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks, so you are well ahead of that 3-5 pound average.

I too have lost more weight faster with diet and exercise than I have post-sleeve. I lost 90 pounds in one year "on my own" before. Since my sleeve, I have lost 57 pounds in just over 8 months. But what you need to remember is that this is not a diet. It is not a race. It will never be "over" or "done" the way your past weight loss experiences have been. This surgery has altered your relationship with food forever. I know you want to lose the weight fast. Everyone does. But ten years from now it won't matter if it took you 6 months or 16 months to reach your goal weight, will it? What will matter is that you have MAINTAINED your loss (which, if you are like me you've never managed in the past) and you are living a full, happy, healthy life.

How do I post the stats?

I believe you have to do it on the desktop version of the web site on a real computer and you can't do it through the app. But if you are on a computer, you go to your name in the upper-right corner, and click on "My Surgery". Lets you put in all your stats, your surgery date, your surgeon, etc.

@@coleenrenee - I assure you @@JamieLogical wasn't laughing to be mean. Post similar to yours pop up every day. Many people expect those big numbers all the time. Truth is there is as much a possibility you can hit that 3 - 5lb weight loss as there is that you'll hit that 1 - 2lb weight loss. It depends a lot on your genetics as much as it also depends on how good you are at hitting those Fluid and Protein goals. I also agree with @Inner Surfer Girl that staying away from the scale might be a good idea. At the very least weigh no more than once a week. Keep a food diary at least initially, and exercise.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
