Any bypass patients take Zzzzquil post op? My doctor said it was fine to take. But I'm curious how fast it'll take effect now that I've had my bypass. I don't wanna pass out washing dishes and I don't wanna sleep through my alarm either.

Thanks in advance!

I would like to know this too! I took it a few times before surgery and I was groggy in the mornings after taking it. Honestly I've been scared to try something after surgery but boy do u need it! Sleepy time tea helps a little, so does lavender essential oil on my nose, but not every night!

For sleep, I use a mattress pad warmer. It fits the whole mattress. I turn it on (on the lowest setting) about a half hour before I go to bed. Even in the summer, but I use AC. Then, I immediately turn it off. It comforts my body (especially the arthritis) and helps me get to sleep. I rarely need to use sleep aids anymore because of the pad. Sleep well, all................

I used to use ZZZquil all the time prior to surgery. I realized the Benadryl in it made me so groggy and more tired the next day that I don't ever take it anymore.

Have no idea what happens post RNY.

When you look at the inactive ingredient label. The second listed ingredient is ethanol, and the 6th is high fructose corn Syrup. Since ethanol [ethyl-alcohol] is an alcohol, it might cause a problem, especially soon after surgery.

You may find that Zzzquil and other sleep aids hit you faster and a bit harder; also, keep in mind that the key ingredient (Benadryl aka Diphenhydramine HCL) can be a stomach irritant - just something to watch out for if you're prone to ulcers or simply want to protect your new pouch from any potential irritation!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
