i know it's hard, but don't cheat. You want this surgery. Your body won't be hurt by fasting for a few days. Try medifast shakes (no solid food) for a week and you should lose a lot. The hunger will drive you insane for like 2 days, but after 4 days you don't have hunger pangs or rumbling anymore. I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks having 5 shakes per day in 8oz of skim milk each. broth made from a bouillon cube was my treat each day.

Med1fast.com

The strawberry and orange cream flavors were good, the chocolate was blech, and the mocha and cherry pomegranate were vile.

Get 5 boxes and you're good for a week.

Hey guys!! I am so encouraged to have found this app!!! I am about to go in for surgery in about an hour. Love your words of encouragement!

I hope you have a speedy and painless recovery ???? and welcome to the losers bench later on today ???? it feels amazing to be on the other side. And it's no joke on the walking, to release the gas pains. It really works. But making yourself move is pretty tough when your insides feel so fragile.

You can try a variety of ways of cutting back One way might be 2 Protein shakes a day and one meal consisting of Protein and veg only. In between drink Water until you float.

My surgeon didn't require a pre op diet, is this normal? My insurance required me to be on a medically supervised diet for 3 months which I finished April 15. I've kept the changes I made during the diet ( 0 cal sugar, cooking with pam, whole wheat Pasta etc) with occasional cheating :( I'm scheduled for May 18 for gastric sleeve surgery :o

Very jealous. I'm in the middle of my 2 week liquid pre-op and I'm struggling not to cheat. Don't even know why I need one, I have a low BMI ????

It shrinks your liver and all the other organs to make the surgery safer for YOU! Hang in there. You've got this!

I see. I asked the surgeon and he said he'll only require liquid diet if you have existing conditions that may increase risk for complications during surgery. He just said for me not to gain weight. I do however need to drink only Clear Liquids the day before surgery. Can anyone give me an example of a typical day on a liquid diet? broth Jello and what else? Sheesh its gonna be tough! Congrats to you all who have stuck with it for 2 weeks!

I'm on day 11 of my preop diet but it's not just liquds. I'm down 11 pounds and feeling great!

You might try sugar free Popsicles for clears and lots of water/crystal light! You'll do just fine!

Well... It's hard! I relate to you so much! I find my self noticing all food around me even more! You don't even realise how much food is always around you.

Watching my family eat is difficult. I'm only on day five and I am hoping I can get through it. I haven't weighed my self. Don't wanna be disappointed and get discouraged by weighing my self often so I'm waiting a week.

I'm from the UK so my hospital have given me a slightly different diet which is 4 muller light yogurts and 4 cans of slim fast Soup or any Soup that is 100 calories each. I feel like it's starvation! But I'm hanging in there????

Lol just going to the grocery store the other day was a test of my willpower! I forced myself to walk past ice cream and chocolate (my weaknesses) but I did it and only got the items I need for preop and postop. My boyfriend brought over a Reuben last night with fries because he forgot my liquid diet started but I didn't touch it thank goodness.

This is hard but even if you cheated getting back on track is the most important thing! As many others have said in posts....this is not easy by any means and takes a great deal of work! Keep on going and now you are postop hopefully you will find it somewhat easier to stay focused. ????????????

Even though I mostly shop the perimeter of the market, where the produce, meats and dairy are, they still put the diet disasters in their pretty eye-catching packages on the endcaps. As they call my name with their mythological Sirens' song, I have to turn my back and tell myself "Walk away from the Twinkies. Walk away from the Twinkies. Walk away from the Twinkies........"

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
