The 3 week stall is VERY REAL!

Recommended Posts

I'm day 25 post op and have had a stall for the last week and a half. No matter what I did the scale was stuck! Well, I went out for Mexican food with my family last night for a celebration for my daughter's softball teams big win. I just let myself relax and enjoy some " real food" and had just a few chips and 3/4 of a small cheese enchilada made with a soft corn tortilla. I was full as this was the most food I have eaten since surgery. Well just for fun I got up and weighed today and the scale finally moved! I'm down 1.5 pounds from yesterday!! So happy it's finally going the right direction :)

I had the "dreaded 3 week stall" at 2 1/2 weeks out and it last 3 weeks! You're lucky! I was going crazy! Actually, the carbs you ate probably gave you a jump start! Keep up the good work!!!

Mine first stall just hit at week 6 and 7. I added all kinds of new foods this week to shake things up. Avocado, Bacon wrapped scallops, Beans and rice... Made my goal 800/80/40 on calories/protein/carbs.

I upped my calories from the 500-600 range (been in since full liquids/purees) all the way up to 800-900 per day, and I dropped 2 lbs this week!

Just passed the 4 week post op mark. I haven't lost anything in the last week. I'm so discouraged right now. Any advice?

Hi @Brenew. I'm glad you broke your stall, but I suspect you just came to the end of your week-3 stall. I'm a little worried about your choices at the restaurant. My family and I go out to Mexican every couple of weeks. I skip the chips, eat some salsa with a spoon, order steak fajitas, skip the tortillas and rice, and I never have any room left for Beans.) I've never had a problem with that slowing down my weight loss. I'm afraid if you keep eating chips and enchiladas, next time they won't be so kind to you. So try to make the Protein choices and not the carb choices and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Oh yeah, guac! How could I forget guac?!! No carbs = okay in my book!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
