Eating off plan-ok, cheating- 5 days post op

Recommended Posts

I remember a scene in the movie "Troop Beverly Hills" in which Shelly Long is a Girl Scout Leader. She and another mom are taking several girls somewhere in a station wagon. The mom and Shelly's character are in the front seat and discussing the virtues of Valium. One of the girls overhears and asks "What is a Valium". Shelly Long's character responds, "Well, honey, it's kinda like a nap." ;)

My daughter (who has dropped 85 lbs s/p VSG 2/25/14) and my best friend (lost 74 lbs s/p VSG 10/14/13 and gained 25 lbs back) are my support and police my eating 26 days post VSG!

I value the advice of the veteran sleevers on this site and understand the genuine concern each expressed knowing the original poster was eating food way too soon at 5 days post op. After all I have 2 people myself that pull no punches in their advice or brandishments! I hope you are able to follow your NUT's and counselor's recommendations so you can be successful in the use of this tool for your own weight loss @@justbeingme1972!

Good luck!

Michelle

I appreciate your honesty. Anytime I've tried to eat stuff I wasn't suppose to my stomach let me know pretty quick and that was that. I'm guessing that's why people throw up so much at the beginning of this. According the program director of my bariatric unit everyone progresses at different rates with what they are able to tolerate. Listen to your body, if it complains put down your fork.Everybody slips up sometimes or we wouldn't be here in the first place, would we?

I was sleeved 2/09 and ended up with a chest infection so all meds were stopped. I was hungry all the time which was caused from the gerd or reflux.. I cheated one day I to crave beef but I chewed it then spat it out.. So at least I had the taste. I saw my dietician and I am supposed to take tabs for reflux all the time. Since being on the reflux tabs I am not hungry at all. The reflux confuses our bodies and brains so we think we are hungry try the reflux tabs next time you see your Doc. The liquid only diet post op is tedious to say the least

At least blend that crap up!!

Seriously, I know how hard it is, and I really craved something savory during the liquid phase. Try some broth or Soup. You need to get a handle on this if you want this tool to work for you, but most of all, don't jeopardize your health. We only get one stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
