I was sleeved almost 6 weeks ago.

At 2 weeks, I got a horrible burning pain near my left breast. It almost felt like my underwire was poking me, but it happened even when I wasn't wearing a bra. It would come and go depending on how I moved. I did a self breast exam and had a friend feel as well. There was no lump. I was going to ask my doctor and then it just stopped.

Now for the past week or 2, I have had the same burning sensation on my back. It is isolated to a small area and there is no mark or lump. It hurts like hell though.

Anyone experience something like this?

Thanks for your help.

Check with your doctor. I'd worry about ulcers, but moving like that sounds unusual, and gas should be gone by 6 weeks.

I'm guessing a little bit of an unhappy nerve reconnecting. I've had lots of surgeries, and had many, many nerves cut. Nerves can take up to a year (or even longer sometimes) to heal/reconnect. And sometimes they can be VERY painful in the process. Some nerves don't reconnect, and you end up with a numb area, or no sensation at all (like my WHOLE abdomen!). Other nerves reconnect in a very strange manner, or even to a nerve it wasn't even originally part of (I have several that, when I have an itch, I have to scratch a totally different part of my body that shouldn't even have anything to do with where the itch is!).

So with all that being said, your nerves are probably in the reconnection phase, and are unhappy, thus setting off some painful jabs. It SHOULD heal and be done, but it's hard to say. And you may get the jabs in areas you think shouldn't be related to the surgery, but nerves go throughout several areas, and it may be part of your back nervous system. I know all this sounds so strange, but nerves are funky things!

Since the pain in your breast area is gone, I am guessing all of this is a nerve issue. IF you are concerned, call your surgical team. Don't take chances where your health is concerned. That's why they get paid the BIG BUCKS!!!! Good luck to you!

Thanks. Its definitely not a gas pain and I don't think its an ulcer. I imagine it could be related to the nerve. There is no tingling or numbness, just a burning jabbing type pain. I see the doctor in less than 2 weeks. There weren't any available appointments for next week.

Yeah, you might not have any numbness or tingling, each nerve has it's own "special" way of feeling. I get lots of jabs from nerves, sometimes they just "go off"! It usually doesn't last long, but sometimes it goes on for a couple of days. You know when you get a nerve that kinda goes "off", like me - I get one on my eyelids that will just Jiggle all day, and drive me crazy! Nerves are funny things, but are important. The ones in my abdominal area that are dead, pose a problem for me, as I cannot feel even something burning hot there. This is dangerous because I can have serious injury but not even know it. Like diabetics with neuropathy. We don't necessarily know when we have a blister on our affected foot, and it gets out of hand, even to the point of amputation. Let us know how it all turns out. Have a good evening!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
