How many of you continue the shakes in your diet after many months after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I continue to have a battle balancing calories while trying to make sure that I get at least 60 grams of Protein. I may at times don't even get up there all with food from morning to night. I try to stay at 800 calories but it gets tricky with calories and carbs. So I brought shakes to start drinking them in the morning. Any suggestions? I am 4 1/2 months out.

I know people who continue with shakes for years. It's an easy quick Breakfast on the way to work., or if you have a lunch meeting, I think I will just because I can't see myself cooking an egg at 2am (when I get up to get ready for work).

I probably will continue to have one for Breakfast. I used to be a breakfast skipper, and I think my energy level is better with a Protein shake for breakfast.

I will be 6 months out next week and I still use them occasionally. I don't rely on them but the do come in handy sometimes. Usually at lunch time, whether I am working our out running errands. I would much rather drink one of my premiere Protein shakes then stop for fast food or something. I try very hard to plan ahead as much as possible.

I really don't see anything wrong with incorporating them into your meal plan, I just wouldn't rely entirely on them.

I'm 7 months out, down just a skoash past 2/3rds of the weigh to my goal. I usually do shakes in the morning - they have 35 grams of Protein - a huge jump on getting in enough protein.

I had my surgery on December 12, 2014 and I couldn't stand Protein shakes after my surgery. I forced myself to drink them during my first month post-op, but once I started eating real food, I stopped drinking them completely. I too struggle with getting Protein in on a daily basis, but I just do the best I can.

I am not crazy about shakes but will see if my weight drops easier if I do shakes in the AM. Some days I do better than others but with hair falling out at a record rate I have to get that Protein level up!

I still have 1 every day. Usually in the morning when I get to work or if I'm off I have one right after I exercise.

i am 9 weeks out and still do 2-3 of the costco Protein shakes. Its just too easy to drink them and I don't have to think about what I need to pack for breakfast and lunch when leaving for work.

I am 1 year and 7 months out and up until yesterday I have had less than 5 shakes the whole time. They are so disgusting tasting to me. If, however, you would like to drink them, there isn't anything wrong with that and like someone else said it gives you a nice jump on your Protein. I have found recently that if I drink a blended version where I add in Protein powder, almond milk, greek yogurt, and PB2 or any variety of flavors you enjoy, it tastes a lot like a milkshake, the calories can be quite low, it is portable, and the Protein can be epic compared to trying to eat the same amount.

I enjoy my Premier Protein shake in the morning. I like drinking a shake because I can also drink my coffee at the same time with no waiting after I eat. I pretty much have to have coffee first thing or I can't function :P

I'm 8 months post-op and still do a Protein shake (25 grams protein) most mornings.

It's fast, easy, perfect.

Threw mine out a while ago. I eat Protein Bars instead. They taste a lot better and have more protein!

The other thing I wonder is the people who do the shakes daily lose weight faster? I would think yes given the higher Protein help us lose the weight efficiently.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
