Brand new at Lap Band!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Jenny. I live in Phoenix AZ, I just had my Lap-Band surgery 4 weeks ago. So far it has been awesome! I woke up from surgery and literally had NO pain. The next day I just had some soreness but that was it. I had my first fill 2 days ago and was so excited to find out I have already lost 26 lbs. I have a long way to go but its a great start. The only thing I find difficult is that I have no energy in the morning time. I was previously a morning person and now I have trouble waking up. I am also a little dizzy in the morning as well. Other than that I am doing great and I am glad I found this site. If you have any advise please share! Thanks :)

Hi Jenny, congrats on being newly banded! My best piece of advice is to keep in regular touch with your dr regarding fills. I'm 5 months into the process and still finding my green zone. It might not happen after the first 1 or 2 (or 5) fills!

You should never be so tight that you're in pain, but you should also be prepared to make big changes in your eating habits to accommodate your new band (for me, chewing super well, taking small bites, and eating slowly weren't an issue until about 3-4 fills in - then I finally needed to make those changes to avoid getting stuck).

Good luck finding continued success!

My experience was similar to yours the first 2 weeks but I never felt tired or dizzy. Then again I ate mostly healthy foods after the first 30 days(and before). I think a lot of obese people are so used to consuming mass quantities of carbs before surgery that the body is trying to send signals that it wants more carbs. Try to resist consuming lots of carbs, simple or complex. Its fine to consume maybe 25% of your calories with complex carbs but then again, most of us ate a lot more than that before surgery and most of it was simple carbs like bread, sugars, chips, Cookies etc. I'm just assuming of course?

After 3 months I had a visit with my nutritionist and she really helped me. I cut out a lot of worthless calories and my real weight loss journey began. Have a talk with your nut if you can?

Congratulations! I was dizzy a little a few months in. Actually about 6-7 months in. But it passed. I attribute it to my lower body weight not being adjusted to my blood pressure meds. Everything evened out over time. I wasn't tired though. I actually had tons of energy for the first time in years. Like tmf said, keep up with your fills. I'm a year out and doing great and I'm still being adjusted. You'll do fine!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
