slight rant with a huge dose of disappointment

Recommended Posts

So i just got my clearance back from all my testing, which made me super happy! I scheduled my appointment to meet my surgeon for next Monday and then scheduled to take the afternoon off work. The doctors office just called back and said "sorry, i didnt see the surgeons schedule has changed. We cant get you in for your consult until the end of May." I almost cried on the phone. I was hoping to have already had surgery and been recovering by then. Now it looks like surgery wont be until June sometime. Im so ready for this to be finished. Ive been working towards this for damn near a year now and Ive worked so hard... its sooooo close yet soooo far away. Im so disappointed to add another month of wait time.

I know the feeling. I was supposed to have my surgery in January but ended up having my surgery 4/8. Hang in there your surgery is coming!

@@KF2007 this can all be very frustrating and it can also feel like everything is so slow moving. But once you actually hit your surgery date you will wonder how you were able to fit everything in time flew by so fast. Hang in there. At least you know it's going to happen now. That's the most stressful part. :)

There is no reason they can't schedule the hour long consult you need before the end of May. Call them back, tell them that you are unable to wait until the end of May and you would like them to look a bit harder for an opening. If they are unable to find one, you will go to another surgeon. I've worked in the medical field- if you really want to, you can get just about any kind of patient in for something quick like a consult, it just takes a little effort and creativity. If you want to be lazy, you tell them that they have to wait for a few weeks until the schedule has more openings. If they don't bother to argue with you, you're not at all motivated to push up their appointment, but if they pitch a fit, it's just easier to make them happy and find a place to squeeze them into than worry about them posting a bad review about the business or the doctor and then taking their business somewhere else.

Be the squeaky wheel. :)

I know this is frustrating but what is one more month. I waited four years for my surgery. One month more will give you more time to get prepared and gain knowledge in all areas of the surgery. :)

I finally met my surgeon today. I like him. However his nurse told me that he and the other doctor have commitments and vacations comig up so were most likely looking at July or August for surgery date. im sure she could see the disappointment on my face. This is typically how my luck goes it seems.

My weight also went up by about 7 lbs since my last NUT appointment a few months back. Guess i ate worse on my vacation then i thought... I was told to really watch my diet bc insurance will be looking at if i can comply with what they are asking me to do. so ive got a some time to work on losing it!

Fingers crossed theres no more obstacles or hurdles! 1 year is a long time to be working towards this. But i must say, its really prepared me. Had i had surgery within a few months of starting the process, i dont think i would have been as ready for it. I understand so much more about it all now! Im more ready then ever.

Send out for Insurance approval next week! Hope its quick!

When I found out I couldn't get my surgery until March because my surgeon was booked for February, I actually did cry! I was so disappointed. I wanted my new life to start. But the time flew by (I even postponed it until April so I could have it over spring break and not miss work). Hang in there! Enjoy your beer and steak now :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
