Advice needed for journey ahead from 6 weeks

Recommended Posts

So, I'm in a routine for my eating at 6 weeks out that has me at my 80 grams of Protein and 64 oz Water. Most days that is like 650-750 calories. I am literally eating all protein. How can I add vegetables to that without running my calories up? Or do I not worry about calories if I am literally protein and vegetables; The only carbs I get are in Vitamins or my Protein Drink or occasional 2 oz of refried Beans. I am content for now, but Just trying to see where his thing leads. Any vets out there care to talk about this? I have probably 18 months or more of losing before I ever hit maintanence, but wanting to understand how/ when to add vegetables or fruits. I have a nut appointment in a few weeks, but wanting practical, been there type advice.

Love your avatar pic! I know how you feel. ;)

These are the phases I followed:

http://www.360bariatrics.com/360-process/bariatric-diets/

My vegetables are low-carb like broccoli, green Beans, onions, and so on. In all likelihood you won't be able to get enough vegetables in to do much damage no matter which vegetables you choose. But I prefer low carb simply to avoid triggering cravings.

I mix my vegetables with my Protein, but weigh everything as I'm preparing my meals...usually 3 oz Protein plus 1-2 oz of veggies.

Best of luck to you!

If you find out the answer, let me know! For me the issue isn't calories. I honestly don't care how many calories I am getting so long as I get my Protein in. For me, the issue is SPACE. By the time I put my protein first to get the required 100 grams (my nutritionist is BIG on protein), I just have no room for any veggies.

Eat your Protein focus on veggies a little later. You can add one or two bites for variety bit at 6 weeks, I was still only wanting softies like cottage cheese and yogurt.

My surgeon told me not to worry about calories. Just to focus on Protein first and get my 64oz of fluids. I have added some veggies but they fill me up too fast.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
