1 week post-op, and need help

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am in tears as I type this, so I need some feedback from you all. I was banded on 4/6, everything went well that day, even the next 4 days. Then came a 'stressor/trigger' and I started to eat normal food. I didn't eat to the point of vomiting, but it was VERY uncomfortable. I know I am supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks post. Should I try to go back to liquids to not harm myself? Did I harm myself, that's my biggest fear, that I ruined this.

I'd go back to the liquids for a couple of weeks and call your surgeon tomorrow. I'm so sorry that you are going through this.

You will probably be fine but you should probably go back to the liquid diet at least for another week or two. I caved at about week 3 lol. My nutritionist told me that no one ever sticks to the plan as long as he would like. I am not encouraging you to stray, I am just letting you know you are not alone. You should probably give yourself some time to heal though by sticking as close to the liquid diet as you can. Maybe try some pudding or something similar if you must.

Definitely go back on Fluid and please make sure you make that appointment with your surgeon. I am sure there has been no damage done, the main reason we are on fluids post op is for the swelling to settle. Good luck and keep positive..

I am so grateful for your responses. Thank you. I did call the office yesterday and the nurse and dietician both said to get back on the liquids (which I did). Also, if I was keeping Water down, then I should be ok. I have my 2week post op appt with the doc on 4/23, so hope the liquids help appease that mistake. It was a huge lesson learned. Thanks again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
