Getting sick and the picc line

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am a little over 3 weeks post op and I was wondering how many people have experience what I am. As of right now I'm feeling down and hopeless, I don't know what to do anymore about getting better. Ever since surgery I have been having a lot of nausea and even vomiting. I am following the doctors directions and chewing food very thoroughly but even so I get sick. I have slow movement from my esophagus to my stomach and that doesn't help but only make things worse. I have gotten to the point that I have a "picc" line to help with nutrition . I just really want to feel better and am wondering how much longer it will last. :( any advice or kind words would help

Mindy, try holding up on solid foods (if that was the problem) and go back to Soups and full liquids. Listen to your own body and reintroduce food slowly. That's what we did b4 surgery! You may be trying to do too much. Rooting for u to feel better soon!

Thank you! I believe in the strength of prayer so I appreciate that very much. I haven't really been eating at all. Anything, even broth I throw up :( even Water. I'm hoping that soon this goes away.

Im so sorry you're having troubles. Im suprised they had you 'chewing' anything. My surgeon has a rule of broths only for the first 3 weeks and then 3 more weeks of soft foods. Did they have you eating straight out of surgery? Praying for your rapid healing.

No I was on liquids for 2 weeks then he wanted me to try eggs but I can't handle any of it. So after several hospital stays I got the picc line to help with nutrition. Now I've been not eating or really drinking anything . I'm so afraid to keep getting sick. It's like I end up thinking I might be OK then the next thing I know im more sick then before.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
