Advice on weight loss, thanks in advance

Recommended Posts

I need some advice on weight loss, my surgery was December 4th 2014 and I have lost 50 pounds.

For the past 2 months I have stalled at 180. Initially, when I was losing weight almost every other day, my diet consisted of 3 ounces of food 3 times a day, my diet now consists of four to six ounces of food 3 times a day with fruit infused Water.

I had a hysterectomy March 6 so I'm not doing anything other than walking around the house and going up a flight of stairs a few times a day. I am wondering, should I go back to three to four ounces of food 3 times a day with my fruit infused water?

I know stalls are normal but is it normal to stall for such a length of time? I think it would be a little difficult for the body to survive on what I did initially which was 3 ounces 3 times a day. But I think I need to do something any advice?

I get around a hundred ounces of water per day, and my carbohydrate level is 45 grams and below. I am insulin resistant so my carbos have to remain low, my Protein is high, anywhere between 60 and 80 per day.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm eating too much, if I eat yogurt or carbohydrate food I could get in 6 ounces and if I'm not paying attention or measure I probably just a few times since December 4th have gotten over six ounces, if I do pure protein like chicken I definitely can get 6 ounces in. Any advice? Should i re shrink my sleeve?

Iam taking a Multi-Vitamin, and two calcium chews per day.

Thank you in advance!!! :-)

Thanks

I had my surgery on the 4th as well and have lost about the same amount. I can't have over 25 net carbs a day so that could be hindering you as well might want to talk to your doc about that one. Also I know the chews have carbs and sugar in them so I would look at those a maybe switch to a pill instead. I hope this helped some!

It's not so much about the quantity of food you are eating as it is about WHAT you are eating. If you are eating 6 oz. of chicken breast three times a day, that's a lot different than eating 6 oz. of say... Pasta and potato chips three times a day. I personally still can't eat 6 oz. of anything solid at one time. I can do 5 oz. of yogurt because it's so liquidy. But I can't do more than 4 oz. of meat at a time.

Anyway, weight loss is still all about calories in versus calories out, even post WLS. If the foods you are eating are calorie-dense, then you can gain weight or stall even if you still aren't eating very much. Make sure you are putting Protein first. Strive more for the 80 gram end of your current range. My nutritionist has me on 100 grams a day, but I get more exercise than you.

Thanks Jamie. Great advice.

Your surgery was way before mine, it worries me that I can eat more? Anyone have any advice on this?

How long does it take you to eat that amount? The key for me is to actually eat rather quickly and then I feel the restriction and stop. If I just "nibble" over a long period of time, I can eat more, because as food moves through my stomach, I have room for more, obviously.

Another 12/4/14 here, and am down 53lbs, so it sounds like along with everyone else sleeved on this day, you're right on track! It shouldn't be a surprise that your body has stalled, because you have given it 2 whammies in such a short period of time. Now it is saying :STOP THE MADNESS....I'M ONLY HUMAN!!! You can't expect it to act like normal, because what it has had is anything BUT normal! So, take a deep breath, give yourself a MAJOR break, and just let yourself have some peace. Fretting over this won't get you back on track, TIME will! You appear to be doing everything right, so if you can, take it easy and get your mind off all the worries that will send your body's metabolism into hiding. Stress and worry can harm you just as much as anything, have PEACE!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
