I was allowed full liquids as soon as I came home on the third day. At one week I was allowed to go on to purees. Baby food was disgusting, so I just put regular food in the blender and ate that. For chicken or veggies I added chicken broth (the homemade Bone Broth cooked with carrots, celery, onion, and garlic) that has actual nutrients.

At week two I started soft foods, but for meat I pretty much stayed with chicken because it was moist. Fish was too flakey and beef too course.

At 4 1/2 weeks I started whole cooked foods as tolerated. The first thing I went for, on the way home from the doctor's office was Wendy's chili. It was just a couple of bites, but at the time, it was the best food ever!

It is so easy to get impatient with the program our doctors have set in place. If you need a reminder of what just happened to your stomach, watch a Youtube video on your kind of operation. It will put your condition in perspective. There is a lot of healing that has to happen, and your stomach is counting on you to resist caving in to head hunger.

It still helps me to weigh and measure what I know I can handle, and then never eat the last bite.

Egg drop Soup helped me immensely. Are you drinking Protein Shakes?

Glad you asked this question! I might have been asking it myself in a couple of weeks if I didn't see your post!!!

I've only been on this site a few weeks and there are so many rude people on here (Babbs just to name one)... But thank goodness there are more positive people that negative! Lol

If you can't say something in a nice way... Don't let your little fingers type in a response.... Duh...

We are all scared, and want good results and a good experience!!! So I hope your NUT can help you when you see her!

I've been given a strict diet plan for before (start tomorrow) and after. What to and not to eat for seven weeks post, so it's clear to me what I have to do! I'm not much of a meat person anyway but I'm gonna hold off of meats and salads until 7-8 weeks out!

Personal preference!

But I'm gonna try to stick to it!

Good luck and ignore the #haters they aren't perfect either!!!

I could not tolerate raw foods until about three months. Once I could eat an apple, my Constipation issues went away. An apple a day keeps the Miralax away.

So true!! I ate my first apple a couple of days ago and I was sleeved on 2/4. Wow!! I would definitely recommend that for constipation. ( sorry, I know we got off topic)

So I actually talked to my doctor today and he said I could try some Soups like chili etc if I pureed them well. I was able to tolerate 3oz of bison chili and it was amazing and this is the first time I am not hungry since surgery!!!

We are about the same days out from VSG. I asked my surgeon about the not really being able to 'feel' when I was full or not and he said that it is not uncommon on the clear and full fluids part of the plan. Stick to your doctors plan, now is the time for healing our newly stapled tummies. Good luck.

No, I would definitely not eat meat that has been out for 7 days. That is risky.

@@SuperDave haha I would never eat meat that has been out for more than a couple of hours... I was asking if it was ok to want to eat meat when I was only 7 days out from surgery :)

I am 10 days out and have been CRAVING real food. I do realize that it is "head hunger", I don't feel hungry. The broth is just not satisfying me. I was able to add in cream of potato Soup and I ate a bit of very thin refried Beans today. I do find that I am full very, very quickly. I will say that I am looking forward to eating "real" food.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
