Band to sleeve in one procedure

Recommended Posts

How long had you had your band?

Which one? I was BANDED twice. 1st 12/22/10 2nd 2/11/14. The first one slipped & was placed too low (as per Doctor). The second one worked fine for 1/2 year then I wasn't able to tolerate the fills........ NOW!!!!!!! As a SLEEVER ( 8days post-op) I'm finding my way. Still swollen but I can say this, my liquids flow freely without coming back up when I had that darn BAND. I know I've made the right decision. Best of Luck to all & stay Blessed

I'm still thinking about this. I might just go for it. Buying a house this year seems to be a wrap. I still will have to move because I'm losing my roommate and I can't afford the rent by myself. BUT my aunt owns an apartment and I can live there and just pay the utilities, so I can still save some money for a house next year.

Which brings me back around to the surgery option this year. Seems like it would be a better option. I have lost about 13 pounds since that last fill, but recently I'm getting a feeling for chest pain and some nausea and have even had to be very careful taking my medication. Also have had some heartburn with certain things (mostly spicy food). So I'm not sure if that's all because the band is too tight or if it's slipped. The problem I have is if they take anything OUT of the band I'm almost positive I'll start gaining weight.

I go back in Friday so I guess we'll see how that goes. I may just go ahead start the 6 week program.

I had the band removed and the sleeve done in one operation 2 weeks ago. I was in the hospital for 2 days and then home and everything has gone just fine. Vomiting is gone. food stays down. I ate some grilled steak and zucchini today with no problems at all.

My surgeon just told the insurance company my band was malfunctioning and they covered it no problem. I just had to repeat the psychiatric visit. It only took a couple of weeks for the insurance to approve.

I've had less pain with this surgery than I did with my band surgery. I only took the pain meds a couple of times in the hospital and none at home.

I had to get 2.2 cc out of my band :-/ I'm still getting some stomach pain with solids but it's hit and miss it seems. I called the nurse yesterday and he said go on liquids for 24 hours to see if that helps. So that's what I'm doing now. I guess I must still be irritated? I am starting to think my best option really will be to try for the revision from band to sleeve.

I did gain about 3 pounds since I had to get Fluid out of the band, but now I'm back down to where I was the day I went in to get UNfilled. So I guess that's good. My biggest fear besides a band slip is gaining weight back.

You're already eating steak??? I'm supposed to do liquids week 1 and add cream Soups week 2...

Yes, the nutritionist said it was fine to do lean Proteins and green veggies at the end of week two. I just had to do Protein shakes, yogurt and cream soups the first 2 weeks. The program at the hospital I went to progresses you to solids between day 10 and day 14.

Some hospitals have people progressing to solids after week 1. I still hurt if I eat meat. But every doc is different and it seems like everyone thinks their's is right. I am 100% mine is an idiot for post op stuff. But that is me. I am out here in lala land thinking if every doc has such different ideas...then really...everyone is just guessing.

Do what feels right as long as it is smart. I am 8 weeks out and meat hurts...so i don't eat it but I can have salad with out any problems so I eat till I am full. I can down half a bottle of Water and 30oz of Protein shake+ decafe espresso in an hour or so. But my doc says I am off liquid Protein by now and on meats....not gonna happen yet.

My area where my port was removed was the worst. It burned and was extremely sore. I'm a little over a week out and feeling much better. Went back to work today.

Did you have it done in one procedure? How long did it take to get done?I was told about 2hrs maybe alittle longer.

That was me too. In fact I am 8 weeks out and my port area still hurts to rub it.

I had it done in one. On a Friday was back to work on Tuesday. But I have a sitting job. I didn't take ANY pain meds post surgery because I don't like them. I hurt but it was livable.

Eating WILL BE DIFFICULT. You will probably get stuck on everything for a while. 8 weeks and I am finally able to eat without any problems.

I did. I believe it was a little over 2 hours. He says I had a lot of scar tissue and it was like they had sewn my stomach to the diaphragm.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
