Does anyone know the requirements for NYC workers? I have Empire BCBS and I am having a hard time getting answers from them. My doctors appt is not until the end of April.

Thanks

I had the empire plan, NYSHIP. My surgeon loved working with it, because pretty much as long as you met the weight requirements you didn't need any other approval. (No supervised visits for 6 months or that other stuff most people have to go through.) Just had to go through my surgeons requirements. My dad had his bypass done within 2 months of meeting with the surgeon for the first time and I had my sleeve after meeting him, taking a couple month hiatus, going back and scheduling for the following month. Good luck! Hope it's as easy a process as it was for me. :)

I have the NYC workers plan and Had my surgery thru NYU Langone medical center they accept it. You have to pay a 300$ deductible and you have to be on a medically supervised diet for 4 months which I did thru the surgeons office. Out of pocket costs included a 250$ fee for the nutritionist and a 250$ fee for the psychologist. In my opinion worth every penny. Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
