So I am 2 weeks post op and my doctor has approved me to move onto soft foods/pureed foods. He suggested yogurt, pureed tuna, but didn't give me much more than that. He told me to just refer to my handbook.... What is everyone else eating for soft foods/pureed foods?

I ate refried Beans on my soft food days. I would drink mainly Protein shakes and just the 1-2 oz of refried Beans each day. I waited until after the puree foods stage to eat the more actual chewing required foods. My puree stage was only about a week or two. My center suggested yogurt as well, but I didn't like it too much since most of it has a bunch of carbs.

Here's a list my doc/nut give to patients.

Strained Soups broth and lowfat cream based Soups (try stirring jar baby food meats into your Soup to increase protein)

Lite-low fat strained yogurt of plain greek yogurt

Protein fortified strained hot cerials like cream of wheat or cream of rice

low fat 1% cottage cheese or ricotta cheese

protein fortified cooked and mashed or pureed potatoes and non gas-forming veggies like carrots, squash, green beans, or peas.

mashed black, pinto or navy beans

lowfat, fat free or vegetarian refried beans or hummus

protein fortified sugar free and low fat or fat free pudding

**They say to fortify these foods with protein try adding unflavored Protein powder OR add 2 tbsp of non-fat dry milk (the milk adds about 5 g of protein)

Here's a site with some good ideas and recipes:

I practically LIVED on the baked ricotta. I also just did a lot of cottage cheese, string cheese, yogurt, pulled chicken, and scrambled eggs.

Colby Jack cheese sticks is where it is at!

I would also say, if you still enjoy some of the liquidy Soups you were having you don't have to stop. Just try and get that Protein in.

This was my puree stage: http://www.360bariatrics.com/360tools/360BariatricDiets_PhaseIII.pdf

I was able to make all kinds of variations simply by changing spices.

. Can I get Phase 1and 2 on this web site it's really more informative than wht I got from my surgeon. I'm having surgery tomorrow so I would love to get this. Thank you and continued good luck to you!!

BTW - Here are the pages for pureed foods from my handbook. If anyone needs it I can get the soft foods list as well. However I would strongly encourage anyone with questions to contact their nutritionist for clarification.

A few things from my list are eggs (moist), cottage cheese, mashed banana (only fresh fruit I can have), canned no sugar peaches, pears, fruit cocktail, cooked veggies mashed (green beans), mashed potatoes, thin slices turkey or chicken deli meat, canned chicken, tuna, egg salad, ham salad, chicken salad, refried Beans, fish(Blah), boiled lean meat chopped with broth, crockpot chicken (as long as it's moist). There is more on my list. I tried taking a pic of my list but couldn't get it to work.

I'm currently eating my first solid food (softly scrambled eggs) in 4 weeks. So good!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
