I'm 5 weeks out. No issues...until tonight. I ate 1 oz halibut and 1 small wedge of avocado. I guess it was too much because I'm absolutely miserable! I feel like food is rising up my esophagus. What can I do???

Try to throw up

Walk. Walk. Walk. Get things moving. Did you chew really well? Whatever you do, I would not suggest putting anything more in there until it has moved some, if not all the way. No liquids, nothing. It should go down, but it might take some time. If, by tomorrow morning, you're still having issues, call your Dr., unless you feel you need to now. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Dry foods like chicken do that to me too. Try to avoid dry foods if you can. Did you try to drink some warm Fluid?

If I eat too much this happens to me too. Feels like the food is sitting in my esophagus. I then have to make myself throw up for any sort of relief. If I can't throw up I lay down curled up and wait for it to pass. It sucks!

NO!!!! If you don't throw up naturally, don't MAKE yourself throw up. That leads to really bad habits and it's not good for your esophagus, throat or teeth.

Walk, walk, walk. Climbing the stairs is best. That will get things moving more quickly.

Measure your food, chew really well and SLOW down. :)

It has happened to me also randomly. I walk, walk, walk when it happens and try to make myself belch which provides some relief! Throw up, no way, not me!

This is the reason I can't eat much meats yet. If it is anywhere near dry I feel like I have a brick in my stomach and it is sitting in my throat. I def think walking helps but I have actually naturally thrown up cause of the feeling. Chew chew chew sometimes til it is mush helps. Glad it passed cause it is the worst feeling EVER!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
