Can you lose more then 100 lbs with the sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I was leaning towards the bypass but the doctor advised right now not to because of my liver disease. He said the sleeve will be the safest right now and down the road if I hit a stAll with losing he will do the bypass. He thinks I will do great with the sleeve and is confident I won't need the bypass. He is worried about the malabsorption. My question can you lose more then 100 lbs? My goal is to lose 150 to 170 lbs. I'm trying to do all the research on sleeve because surgery will be in 4 weeks, I signed the consent for surgery tonight. Please advise. Any information will be great... Thank you.

I don't know why not. I am planning to have the sleeve and have considerably more than you do to lose. I have seen many people on bariatricpal who have lost much more than 100 pounds. I have never heard a weight loss limit in any of the literature I've read and my surgeon has never said there was one.

I'm 5 months post op as of this past Sunday. I've lost 108 pounds. So, yes you can. Lol. In fact I lost 5 pounds last week. So, I'm still losing consistently and have absolutely no dought I'll lose my final 30. But, it's not a slam dunk after surgery. I am extremely careful with my diet. I work out 5 days a week. Every week. And, I never ever cheat. So, it's up to you. Good luck!

You can absolutely lose more than 100 pounds with the sleeve. I started at 271 and I am currently at 155 at eight months out. I have a friend who has lost 140 pounds at eight months out. It is doable!!

There's no reason you can't lose as much as you want with any WLS. You can also fail with any WLS. You get out of it as much as you put into it. As for my sleeve experience, I only wanted to lose 88 pounds but I lost 100 instead...and kept it off for 7 months and counting.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
