Does everyone meet their protein goal every day?

Recommended Posts

Not as much as I would like. :( I got some grilled chicken last night from the store and cooked some peas, thinking both would be great sources of Protein. I still can't do chicken obviously, as it all came back up. So frustrating! I have a 23gm Protein shake every morning for Breakfast, and usually have 15 gm Protein yogurt for lunch. Supper I have something soft, generally, that I can add Protein powder to and then I have a large (about 24oz glass milk) before bed. I've found several high protein recipes for pizza and pancakes that I want to try this week.

Any suggestions would be great! I can't eat meat....just not tolerated. All comes back up. I do a lot of refried Beans with cheese melted into it as well.

Make the most of what you can have. In the morning add your yogurt to the Protein shake. You've now gotten 37 grms in first thing in the morning. You can have more yogurt at lunch if that's what you can tolerate. So that's another 15 bringing your total to 52gms and it's only lunch time. At that point pretty much anything you can tolerate will get you to 60gms. I don't like to eat heavy at dinner time. A scoop of Isopure unflavored mixed into a cup of Soup satisfies me. If you could do that you'd get another 26gms of Protein plus whatever protein is in the Soup. That would put you at close to 80 gms by dinner.

Yes, generally. I don't log every day anymore but try to occasionally, just to check in and make sure I'm not slipping always from my goals. On a low day, I get at least 70, on a high day up to 100. I toss a scoop of whey in my coffee every morning for a "latte" which helps me over the hump. I'd not hit 70 without at least one Protein supplement per day, (sometimes 2).

Thanks! Yogurt is actually something I CAN do without issues! Soup too! So frustrated with the meat issues....just forms a slimy coating around it and all comes right back up.

@@Graciesmom04 - one other suggestion when I mix Isopure with a hot beverage or Soup I find it best to temper it in. What I do is take a ½tbsp of warm Water and slowly whisk in the Protein powder a little at a time. At the same time I will have the coffee/tea brewing or the soup cooking. Once the Protein Powder is completely mixed with the Water, I turn the fire off on soup and then slowly stir the liquefied Protein powder into soup. This way the protein doesn't clump and the soup remains hot.

Okay, this morning I did the Protein Shake, with milk, yogurt and my Injury powder. Got 1/4 of the way done and my IBS hit me out of the blue. I haven't had an issue like that since having surgery. I can do each of these things separately with no issues, but am assuming it's the combination of everything together that my body rejects.

I'm not nearly getting in enough Protein at the moment. I'm twelve days out, and still two more days on full liquids.

I just can't do Protein shakes or the like. I have been having fortified milk and drinking yoghurt, and getting in maybe 20gm a day Protein with those. But I feel fine. A little tired and lethargic.

But I don't want to have to force feed myself. I am concentrating on getting enough liquids.< /p>

To be absolutely honest, although I will try to get protein where I can, I have pretty much felt like it's going to be a few weeks until I can even hope to get protein in. When I'm on solids, assuming I can tolerate meat, then I will have no problem with protein since I love meats in almost any form.

But while I'm on liquids and purees, there is almost nothing I can tolerate (and I mean that in terms of taste rather than keeping things down) that is high in protein. But as I say, I'm not worried because this is short term until I can get protein through meat.< /p>

Since you know the milk & Protein powder works perhaps try increasing the amount of protein powder you use. Go slow, maybe add a ¼scoop more. If it's too thick you can add ice or a bit of Water.

You might want to look at meat alternatives. Some people aren't able to tolerate meat right away. One of the things I did on the full liquids stage was make a bean Soup. I pureed black Beans, then thinned it out with a bit of vegetable broth. Before eating I would strain it to remove any skins or bits that hadn't pureed enough. Not only was it a nice bit of protein, it was also a welcome break from all the sweet Protein Shakes. If I added a dollop of plain greek yogurt, it felt a bit like sour cream and added more protein to boot.

I can't seem to drink my Protein shakes, it is too sweet for me and it makes me feel sick and thirsty. However, I been adding 4 oz of Water and freeze them like ice cream. I eat my 37 grams of Protein and it doesn't make me fee sick. After I am doing that, almost every day I am able to meet my goal

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
