Does everyone meet their protein goal every day?

Recommended Posts

Mine is 80-but doctor told me 40 at the least yesterday, so today I'm having less than 80 the next few days to see how that goes.

I meet or exceed it almost always. I'm barely missing it on days I don't get it all in.

I'm suppose to get 60-80 grams a day and I never get anywhere near that. I am having a hard time because the Protein Shake make me gag. I don't know what to do?? I'm worried about not getting enough Protein but when I try to drink it I want to puke. I would rather not do that so I just haven't been drinking it. I have been eating Greek yogurt but it only has 14g in a serving. If I could just eat meat that would be great but I'm only 2 1/2 week post-op.

Finding Proteins easy, it's fitting liquids in that seems hard!

I'm on phase 2 of my post op diet, post op day 10. I'm to eat two meals, have one Protein Shake, and get at least 60 grams of Protein daily with a goal of 73g.

I'm hitting about high 60s.

Yes I do! And I have to get my liquids in because if I don't i get dizzy. All is well. Met goal in 6 months lost 140 since I started the process. Protein is so important.

I am getting 60-70 per day and that is with just one shake, I have been EXTREMELY fortunate that nothing I have tried has bothered me in the least. (I may regret that but for now it has made this pretty easy) So for Protein I have had pureed chix w/ Beans, pureed beef stew, black bean Soup, cottage cheese, greek yogurt and SF pudding and Jello with unflavored Protein added.

Be careful. Your body can only absorb 20g per hour. If you drink one shake fast you'll either have pain, throw up, or not get all your Protein for the day. I think 3 small 20g shakes are easier than 1 big one for three or 4 hours straight!

it took me a good 2 weeks to build up to getting 60 grams of Protein but now I get over 70 most days. As for fluids what I started doing was adding loads of ice and a tiny bit of Water with my Protein Shakes. I then just sipped all day. It was a good way to get both protein and fluids in one shot. At nearly 6 mths out I still start most days with a Protein Shake. I use FAGE 0% greek yogurt which is 23 gms of protein per cup, add a scoop of protein powder (Isopure unflavored) which is 26gms per scoop plus any flavorings I want. My protein shakes usually are between 30 - 40 gms of protein. Te rest I get from food. If I'm a little low then dinner is usually a cup of Soup with a scoop of Isopure mixed in.

Yup. Every single day.

It comes from milk, chicken, fish, red meat, Beans, Protein drinks.

Love my Protein. :)

Pre-op, I certainly didn't eat enough protein.

you bet! I had no issue post-op because I had no problem with downing my shakes. Once transitioned to solid foods, I had no issues with anything I tried (I was very fortunate).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
