question about letter from PCP

Recommended Posts

I wanted to go ahead and schedule a physical, as I'm overdue, and figured I could get the letter of medical necessity done at the same time. I'm wondering, does it have to be from an MD? I normally see the PA or the ARNP. They can get me in with the PA fairly soon, but it will be a month to see the actual doctor. Anyone know?

ok. I ended up going and ahead and scheduling with the PA, and figure that should be good, he works with the MD, and the letter would be on the practice letterhead. I typed up a sample letter for them, based on the one the surgery center has but specific to me, with my diet attempts, etc. Hopefully that will work. I've spent so long trying to hide how fat I am it is weird trying to convince people I'm fat enough instead.

My surgeon told me she would have even accepted a simple note on a prescription pad. And then it turned out my insurance didn't even require it. The PA should be able to do it, but if not just ask if another physician at your doctor's office or within your group can see you. That's what I did, they also tried to make me wait a month to see my doctor so I saw an associate within her medical group instead.

Good luck :)

My PA did it also, no problem.

Good luck!!!

I remember feeling like it was weird too, to convince someone I was "fat enough." And wanting to make sure I hit the required BMI on my first visit. Good thing I didn't have a hard time over-eating! :P

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
