How long did your hair fall out?

Recommended Posts

I'm about a week over 4 months post up. My hair started falling out at 3 months and it has been A LOT. I've got fine hair, but a ton of it, very dense. My loss hasn't been noticeable thus far, but I'm starting to get bummed out because it hasn't stopped yet. I've been taking Hair, Skin, and Nails from Target since a few days after my surgery. It did nothing to prevent this lol

I am 3 and a half months post op and I have just now started to lose hair. My hair is very thick and wavy. It comes out in clumps and its kinda freaking me out but I know it is a side effect of the surgery. I have been getting in my Protein so I dont think it is because of that but I think I will up in just in case. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good supplement to take to help this Hair loss issue..... Should I use Biotin or something else?? I welcome all suggestions!!!

My hair stylist recommended Viviscal (with doctor approval)... has anyone tried it? A client of hers who had chemo and lost her hair had amazing regrowth results with Viviscal. I'm going to look into it.

A friend of mine had the surgery 6 years ago and lost so much hair she needed to wear a wig for a year. That scared me, the first 2 months i lost nothing. Now i am noticing alot of hair in the tub after i shower. I have very thin hair already. I am losing my weight slowly, eating 1000 calories a day and getting in my Protein so was hoping to avoid losing my hair.

Hair loss began at 6 months. and lasted a year. Finally at almost 2 years my hair has thickened a bit, but has not come back in at my forehead. A great wig has been a life saver and I used every Vitamin and product known and recommended to women.

I was just looking at a little bald patch on the top, front of my head just a few minutes ago. The Hair loss started about 12 weeks after surgery and has been very heavy the past 4 weeks. I think it has slowed slightly so I'm hoping for the best. I've used Biotin since before the surgery and I don't think it has made any difference for me. I'm just embracing the hair loss and not stressing. I would rather lose weight and look and feel better. I figure I can cover up my hair loss but not being obese.

i used Biotin over a year. dIdnt help at all. I now switched to Vitamins for hair and see improvement. Finally my hair isn't coming out with every brushing or combing in a year and a half, but it is still not the same. I encourage anyone having the surgery, especially us older ladies, to find a wig similar to your hair, just in case. Best thing I ever did. Do not buy one online!

My Hair loss started about 3-4 months out and peaked around 5-6 months after my surgery. I am now almost 2 1/2 years out and my hair seems a little bit thinner than it used to be, but nothing noticeable to other people. My hair was pretty thick to begin with and it was long (when straight it reached my butt). I had it cut to shoulder length about 6 months after surgery and have kept it that way since, but I'm sure it would look just fine grown out now. The hair loss was an emotional part of the process for me (even though very few people say they noticed), but like every other part of my journey, I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. The positives have always outweighed the negatives for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
