A month post op diet ideas

Recommended Posts

I didn't dare try a salad until I was 8 weeks out. Even now my sleeve isn't thrilled. I eat a tiny bit but it makes a lot of noises. I tried a baby pickle at a month and it caused a lot of pain so I knew I wasn't ready for fibrous foods yet. What do your instructions say?

I agree I'll be 9wks tomorrow and I simply don't think my tummy would handle a salad. Although I do miss a good salad. All good things come to those who wait :)

I'm just over 3 months and just tried salad. I would wait.

I was starting to play with small salads at a month out - typically chopped spinach instead of lettuce for its' better nutritional profile - along with misc. salad veg and some leftover or deli meat for a bit of Protein. As you can see, some have problems with salads for a while (particularly the lettuce, it seems,) while others do not - it's a bit YMMV thing. The best suggestion comes from my doc's program which is to try new foods one at a time to test for tolerance before mixing things up. I've been having these salads for lunch most of the time since then and they still provide the majority of my fruit/veg consumption for the day.

I didn't try salad until 6 weeks out. I too was craving one like crazy. It's just that early out it may be challenging for our still healing tummies to digest raw veg. Give it a few weeks.

I'm 6 weeks out and have had salad already, in fact today! Spring mix and soft tomatoes. No carrots or cucumbers because it's too hard to digest.

Have a boiled egg or tuna. .yum!

I tried a cucumber in NYE and it got as far as my lips and my brain was like "you can't handle this, STOP!" Lol! I've had so much tuna....but a yummy egg salad sounds good!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
