I'm getting sleeved on 2/2 and am most looking forward to ---

1. Seeing my current clothes get waaaay too big.

2. NOT being ravenous for food 24/7 and cruising the fridge every night around this time.

3. Being able to "run" on a treadmill without being winded after 60 seconds...

Ok fellow Feb Sleevers... your turn...

Hi, I'm being sleeved on 21 January and I can't wait.

I'm looking forward to a much healthier and active life but in particular...

not hating seeing photos of myself;

fitting into plane seat belts and putting the tray top down;

not having foot pain and being able to walk on the beach every day again;

being active with my grandkids;

getting down or up off the floor without using the couch;

feeling better about myself;

walking into a normal dress shop;

travelling overseas and walking to see everything I wish too.

but really...there are too many to mention here

All the best with your surgery!!!

Also, it'll be nice to have and wear clothing that fits and looks right too. I am wondering though about my skin...I read somewhere that bariatric patients could take a particular supplement which would help reduce flabby skin...

I am thinking:

By next summer, I will be able to ride a go-kart with my kids. I was just barely able to ride last summer and I took up two seats.

I won't have to have anyone ask me how much longer until the baby is born.

My back won't throb constantly from all of this fat.

I will be able to wear my rings again.

There is so much more, but those are some that came to might right off the top of my head.

22 days to go, for me.

I'm getting sleeved on February 3.

I cannot wait to have the confidence to start dating again!!

I also cannot wait to wear jeans again. It's been about 5 months since I've worn a pail of jeans.

@Aliciad7391..It's been SO long since I've been on a date! I'm looking forward to it as well. It's interesting how gaining weight steals your life day by day, robs you of self esteem and undermines your desire to be social. Before I gained all this weight I was "hot"...and had my choice of dates... I remember it well... and am looking forward to finding that part of ME again. When I think about all this... I focus on that mental picture of ME at goal... and that's what keeps me going! I'm getting sleeved on 2/2 and will keep you in my prayers.

I'm being sleeved on Feb 9th. I'm looking forward to being heathy. I can't wait to hopefully stop some medications. I also can't wait to be able to paint my toes(I know it sounds trivial, but I haven't been able to for some time) I wanna start running and doing yoga. I can't wait to be healthy enough to have children! I can't wait to fit in a freakin bikini!!!! There's many more, but here's a few!

My Sleeve is scheduled for 2/12: I've been thinking about this question a lot since I started this process. I think I haven't realized how much my weight has affected my life. In the past couple of weeks, I've really noticed some things that I do or don't do that are weight related that I haven't really considered before. With that in mind...this is what I'm most looking forward to:

1)playing with my 3 girls unrestricted-including going to amusement parks and not just being a spectator.

2) when I walk into the dance studio while my daughter is practicing, I won't have to worry about seeing myself in a room full of mirrors--I purposely look only at my daughter and refuse to look in the mirrors-which is hard when they are floor to ceiling

3)Picking up a glamour magazine again and realize that I can use some of the tips and information in there

4)walking into a meeting and not worrying that that chair is not going to hold me

5)Going out to eat and worrying if we get a booth

6)Riding in an elevator without having the person in there glance at the weight limit

7)Ordering the same team shirts as the other dance moms

8)Auditioning for local theater and actually having a chance as a decent part

And then your typical be healthy, run, live longer....but mostly Hope.

I'm being sleeved on February 18th and I am looking forward to

- keeping up with my little kids

- not having 3x shirts be tight and having to tug them down all the time

- looking like a "normal" couple with my husband. He is 145lb and I'm 320. We look like an old fashioned nursery rhyme.

- buying new cute shoes as my feet shrink.

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

      Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
      Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
      A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
      I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
      Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

      Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

      Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
      I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

      Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
