Band to Sleeve...what was the worst pain post-op?

Recommended Posts

I am having my band out, and hopefully the sleeve at the same time, on Monday (Jan 5). For those of you who have had the band out what was the worst pain? I am really concerned about the pain from having the port removed. My port flipped early on and I had a second surgery to fix it and so it was stitched into place and it has been causing lots of pain lately. Looking forward to having it out, but not looking forward to pain.

So, I guess what I am asking is, was the pain much worse from the port when it put in vs when it was taken out? Also, anything you wish you had known before band to sleeve revision surgery? I would love to hear your experience.

Thanks :)

I had my band removed and sleeve done on Dec 15. The incision from my port removal was the largest and most painful but it was not that bad. One week post I was off of all pain meds. Now at 17 days post I have no pain. I am so much happier with the sleeve and would not go back for any reason. Good luck!!!

I had the port and band removed in October of 2014. I had no pain. The site from the incisions were a little tender to the touch for about 2 days but that was all. I was prescribed Percocet upon discharge to which I never even filled or needed. It was a same day procedure, I was kept overnight for observation only because my blood pressure dropped immensely after I got home from when it was first put in three years prior.

After the removal I was up and back to normal activity in no time, no real pain at all and the tenderness was completely gone in about a full week. So tender to touch about 2 days - complete tenderness gone in about 7 days. At no point was I unable to be my normal self as far as day to day activities but I restrained from lifting heavy things just because the incisions were held together with adhesions (tape).

I am now on my way to having the sleeve hopefully within the next few months. I will keep my page updated.

I had a band to sleeve revision in April and I had no real pain. I had nausea from the anesthesia (I always do). But no real pain.

I was band to sleeve revision 12/29. I've had very little pain so far. Today the site where my lapband port was removed is a little sore but I'm chalking that up to just being up a little more than the past few days.

Actually, this surgery was way easier that I'd expected. i was very scared and almost chickened out. My lap band surgery was very painful because I had a huge hiatal hernia the surgeon wasn't expecting.

Good luck with your decision.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
