Looking Forward to New Life!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I've been following this site for some time and now that my sleeve surgery is scheduled for January 8th, I've finally decided to join officially.

I have found this site and the information shared to be so very helpful. I'm very happy to be a part of the group now.

Thanks and see you on the forums!

Kat

Hi Kat,

My surgery is on Wednesday, and I see you're a little over 2 weeks? How are you doing, I hope well!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I'm feeling great! I'm not having the most rapid weight loss (down 11 lbs since surgery on 1/8 and down 19 since pre op started on 12/26, but I'm OK with the slower loss. I have a total of 100 lbs to lose and I didn't expect it to come off that quickly since it's not as much as others have to lose. I'm just sticking to the plan and it will all happen!

I'm pretty much physically all healed (just a few sore spots that I feel when I bend a certain way), and I'm looking forward to being able to exercise soon!

Good luck for you on Wednesday and let me know how you're doing!

Kat

Kat,

I'm excited for you and I personally don't think your weight loss sounds that slow, and it's probably best. We all want more of course, no matter the number, but 11 lbs in 17 days is still amazing!

Happy to hear recovery is near done and that you're anxious to start exercising, that's a good sign.

Mind me asking how your energy level is and if you've experienced any mental fog. I am right now on my pre-op super low carb diet and I'm hoping it goes away quickly.

My energy level is good. Still carrying around too much extra weight, so I'm not springing around like I would like to be, but I feel strong and fueled by what I'm eating/taking in.

I think I had more mental fog before the surgery from the stress of how I was feeling about myself and depression around it. I'm still fairly distracted by the surgery and new lifestyle (can't say I'm giving as much focus to my work as I should), but overall, I think the mental fog is much better!

The hardest parts for me were the 2 days on Clear liquids before the surgery and the 7 days on Clear Liquids afterwards. Since then, everything has been pretty easy, and I haven't had any complications. Fingers crossed that continues!

Fingers crossed! :)

I'm hoping distraction, etc is adding to my fog as well, because I don't have a job that will support lack of focus long term for sure!

Thank you for this chat. I'm sure you understand how I'm feeling, can't get it off my mind.

Got a multi-Vitamin from GNC, and D-3, and Omega 3 and B12 but not a bariatric one. Are you taking liquid or pill form?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm going shopping for Popsicles, antacids and a few things shortly.

I understand completely! It does get easier on the other side. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
