Ahh! Which doctor is best in Tijuana? Your price? (gastric sleeve)

I am wanting to get a gastric sleeve done in Tijuana. I am so unsure of what doctor to use because i'm afraid of a bad experience. I would like to find a great doctor with a great price. Let me know about your experience, price, and how your trip went. Did you stay in the hotel the first night or just the last...etc.

I went to Dr Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana ($6500) and felt very safe and very well taken care of. I had no complications and feel great. I would really recommend him.

I'm an Ariel Ortiz fan. Had a great experience and was well cared for from the time I got there until I left, never had a problem getting my records, getting questions answered after I returned home either. Don't use price to make your decision, I almost made that mistake. Remember - you have to live with your surgically altered stomach the rest of your life, given that what is another few hundred dollars for peace of mind and a better surgeon?

I used Dr Fernando Garcia at Oasis Hospital in Tijuana in March 2013. IThink I paid $4300. Great experience! Pain meds scheduled so I never "suffered". Everyone was very attentive, and recovery at the Marriot was nice. Excellent care! And this summer my partner (a physician herself) went to him and is already wearing size 8 jeans. (I'm wearing 12s.)

I think the prices in mexico are the best in the Tijuana area as there is high concentration of bariatric surgeons competing for business. I like the Corvala hospital angeles combo but they recently raised there price to 7500. 7500 is the high end of the range in Tijuana. There are several other high quality surgeons in TJ besides Corvala.

Honestly, I would shop US only. There are lots of hosptals and Surgeons that will make good cash deals. I could never trust a hospital in Mexico.

Hospital Angeles with Dr Covala is the only surgeon hospital combination I can get comfortable with. There are many fine bariatric surgeons but IMHO most of the facilities they operate at are not on par with hospital angeles with the exception of almater. The regulatory and legal framework in mexico is obviously different than the u.s. Which does some create a degree some degree of risk.

I researched several different options both in the US and Mexico. I did not let price play a roll in my decision. I went with the surgical team with the best qualifications at a facility I felt safe with. It just so happens my choice was dr. Ariel Ortiz and Dr. Martinez at OCC in TJ. They were far more experienced with less complications than any of the surgeons within 200 miles of where I live. Best choice I ever made....like slvrsax I was well cared for and have had excellent followup communication with the OCC staff. One night in hospital, two nights in hotel. I never had any pain and being in TJ was like a mini vacation with my sister. The worst part was the coming and going...bad weather cancelled my flight in so I had to drive 5 hours to another state for a flight and I didn't get in until the day of my surgery and bad weather coming back made it impossible to actually drive home...had to stay in a hotel off the interstate. But I was back to work in 7 days, passed goal at 7 months, have maintained for 7 months. Couldn't ask for more.
