Pain at Incision Spot

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 weeks post surgery (had a sleeve) and still having a lot of pain at one of my incision spots... plus now there is a hard nodule of some sort forming under it and it really hurts to bend, stretch, or twist. Also if I sit for long periods like at my desk at work I become really uncomfortable. I'm just wondering if I need to be seen or if this is normal? Have others had this same thing? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Merry Christmas!

Some pain is normal. The nodule you feel is likely scar tissue forming. If it becomes warm to touch, oozes or pan becomes really bad, call your doctor ASAP.

The nodule you feel could also be a hematoma. I had one after one of my surgeries. It goes away after a while. I asked my doctor about it and he said not to worry. Of course I am not a doctor, so if it continues to bother you then you should contact your doctor. Merry Christmas!

Interested to hear what everyone's experiences have been with this. I had the sleeve December 15th and have been having a lot of sharp pains about an inch below my lowest incision when I move. Kinds chalking it up to an internal suture that is healing or maybe muscle pain from the incisions.... Sitting I don' t notice it just when it moved a bit goo much I think....

Debbieduck4 - is yours right at the incision or a little bit off the incision?

I was told by my nurse team to make sure and call in about it (at the least) to see if I should come in, should I have a problem. If it were me, I would call in, minimum. Why take a chance? You paid for their advice and help. Not a good place to get an infection. Good luck and Merry Christmas to you!

Thanks for your responses everyone. I called the surgeon yesterday because this pain is getting worse and I am soooo uncomfortable! He asked me a series of questions about eating and such and determined that I might have an abscess or something at the incision sight because it does not sound infected or like there is anything wrong with the sleeve. (no ickyness like oozing or such... thank goodness!) But then he told me to wait until Monday to come into the office... so here I sit on my couch, suffering, with a heating pad, Vicodin, and waiting until Monday. Hope it will be okay :/

Is it warm to touch? Almost as if the bum has a fever? If not the bump may just be scar tissue. If yes it may be an abscess. I had an abscess when I had my hysterectomy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
