Im becoming vain... or maybe I'm just taking care of myself

Recommended Posts

So I had the surgery in October. We're almost to the end of the year and I'm looking damn good.

This week I had the bright idea that I needed my smile to match the slimmer me. I have really nice straight teeth. I have thought they could be whiter. I broke down this week and paid the $400.00 and got my teeth whitened. It was worth it.

I was starting to think I was becoming vain, but I want to believe I'm just taking better care of myself

Have you found that after surgery, and losing the weight that you take better care of yourself and your image?

I don't think that's being vain. I'd do the same. I bet your teeth look awesome!

Not vain in my eyes. I think I was so unhappy with myself that I did nothing for myself for so long. I just joined a gym and have an appointment scheduled for a haircut and perm. I have also started buying makeup again which I haven't done in a few years. We just haven't done much beyond the basics for ourselves in so long, it feels weird to be buying things and doing things to make our selves look and feel better.

Far from vain! If you don't take care of yourself, then who will?

Don't feel that way! I actually got braces in August to help with my transformation! We deserve it!

I had major dental surgery, removing a couple teeth and what not, but it's something I have wanted to do for years. So I thought now is the time!

Good for you!!!!!!

Sheena :-)

I bought an unlimited spray tan package and get a tan about twice a week. It looks really good. I also am getting my teeth whitened at the spa too!

My motto...If I look better, I feel better! BTW, I feel great!

I've bought so many new clothes because I feel so good about myself. I'm over 25 shirts and at least a dozen pairs of pants. I bought rather cheap clothes on the way 'down' but now that I'm reaching my target zone, I'm buying nicer clothes that will be my ultimate size.

Today in fact I bought a new sports coat and I can't believe how slender I look in it! That's not vanity, that's me being proud of myself. There's nothing wrong with both taking pride in my appearance and congratulating myself on my work to attain a healthier me! Lord knows I put myself down enough over the years. Time to turn things around!

Love it. It feels great to do other things for yourself that compliment the weight loss. Enjoy:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
