Feel like I'm going to explode

Recommended Posts

It's almost 1 week post op and I feel like my belly is so full it's going to burst.

I have been eating Protein Shakes and Tomato Soup, Water and crystal light and some Vitamin waters.

I feel so bloated and weak with tons of pain in my upper belly.

I haven't had a bm since before surgery.

Anyone had experience with this?

It really hurts under my ribs. Even drinking water is hard.

One week out? It's probably gas, still but call your surgeon anyway.I had so much pain under my ribs and had to walk A LOT to get rid of the gas pain. Hope you feel better soon!

I had the exact same problem and I think it was 11 days with no BM. It was horrible. I ended up having to take tons of stuff. 2 Miralax packets in two separate days and a dose of Milk of magnesia. They didn't work. Then I had a full bottle of Magnesium citrate and that still didn't do the trick. I had to have a second bottle the following day and then all was well. I had another episode a week later even though I was taking a stool softener. I now take Peri-Colace. It works for me, but it has to be taken before going to bed and I forget sometimes. Like the past two nights. Guess who is in trouble again today.

I go about every 3 days now but I cannot forget the Peri-Colace. Do not ignore your Constipation. For me the whole thing was much worse then the surgery and I developed roids as a result. I was in agony for at least the last 5 days of that first episode. Not good at all. It was explained to me this is caused by the painkillers in the hospital. Morphine is legendary for causing severe constipation.

Hi.. I am four months out.. Down 65 lbs since surgery.. I did A LOT of research on this site prior to surgery, so i kinda knew about the BM issues that people were talking about.. I take a spoonful of Miralax in my morning coffee.. No taste at all..it keeps me moving. BUT i will tell you, your poop will never be the same, and this was confirmed to me by my Doc..

I spoke to my nutritionist. The reason I was feeling like this was due to some swelling from surgery and over eating. They didn't explain this to me well in the hospital or really anytime- but now I know.

Getting full only requires a tablespoon of food or liquid. two tblsp and I'm pretty much stuffed. I've been bored just watching tv, which triggers me to over eat to begin with, while healing from my surgery. It has contributed, along with habit and the mental urge to eat, to me taking in food.

It's not like before. You have to set aside a tblsp full or two of food, eat a bite, wait five minutes, eat the next, done. It's ridiculous almost how little we eat at this phase.

Now that I have slowed way down I feel much better than I did I know if I eat I'm going to get that full feeling so I watch it.

Slow is the way to go! The only thing that doesn't seem to do this to me is Water. It pretty much goes through.

My Dr told me that if I have not had a BM by my third day post-op, to start taking Miralax three times a day. I'm currently day two, but have the Miralax ready. Wow! It's so cool to be officially on the post-op board now! ????

Prune juice helps me I'm 10 days post-op and I couldn't tolerate the liquid colace. 2-3 oz a day.

What worked was cutting way back on my liquid food and miralax. :) takes me a few hours to digest about 2 tblsp.

A suppository helped me. I'm only 3 days out so I'm sure there are more challenges ahead for me. I love this support site! It is very helpful!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
