Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I just found out my surgery will be in July (granted my pre-op testing goes okay) SOOOOOOOOO

Here's a thread for everyone getting banded in July 07!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a neat name we could call ourselves?

Dini, sweetie, no, no, no. No competition. I mean, she's okay, but you can see the arrogance and vanity. And that to me is sooo unattractive!!! You have nothing to worry about. Forget what folks have said in the past. You're hot now, and on your way to being even hotter. Just wait till she sees you...can we say jealous???

AH YOU CHIMBOREE AND EVERYONE ON THIS SITE IS SO AMAZING! HPE YOUR ALL AS NICE WHEN YOUR SLIM!!!!

I OVER HEARD HE SAY ABOUT A MONTH AGO I LET MYSELF GO...BUT THATS TOTALLY COOL... GIVE ME 6 MONTHS...

ENOUGH ABOUT MY LITTLE PETTY PROBLEMS... HOW IS EVERYONE?

Lynette, I'm sorry for you too about your loss. I am extremely close to my dad, so I can only imagine how you feel/felt. And sorry about the first hubby. What's up w/the cheating? (that's a whole other thread...I have REAL issues w/this. I've been on a rampage lately about men.)And damn those carbs. They started in early on you, huh? Me, too. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE bread. It is a huge downfall for me.

Also, 150 was the smallest I remember being, too. I was a senior in high school. And 150 is my goal wt.

And thanks for the compliment. ;) You guys are making me blush. And that's kinda hard for a black person. Hahaha!

I'M GOING TO HEAD OFF NOW. ITS ALMOST 11PM HERE AND I'M GOING TO TRY SPEND SOME TIME WITH ADAM. NIGHT TO YOU ALL. I'M SURE TOMORROW I'LL HAVE AROUND 3 PAGES TO READ LIKE YESTERDAY.

SWEET DREAMS sssssssss. x

You're welcome. Yes, this group is awesome!!!

I certainly want to stay true to who I am. This is s'thing I've been thinking about for some time now. I've been wondering how the wt loss will affect me socially, mentally, professionally, etc. I'm a pretty outgoing person now, so I can only imagine I may get a little more social??? ;) And if for any odd reason, I do get above myself, I have family and friends who are sure to check me on it.

I think my heart may be even more compassionate to those who are overweight b/c I know what it's like. Like today, I saw a large woman going into the bank. I know her legs had to be hurting her. My heart went out to her. I wondered if she knew about the Lap-Band.

Nighty night, Dini! :notagree

G'night Dini. We'll hear from you tomorrow. Remember, I'm at home for 4 weeks, with not a whole lot to do but keep up with all my band buddies.

Sure hope to hear from Breefy Irish soon. His surgery was yesterday.

And hope to hear from our Banders from today still. Hope they're doing great!!

It's dinner time for me. Will check back in few.

Ok, it's been less than 24 hours for me and there were FOUR pages to read! My cripe!

Chimboree - You're a cutie patootie! And so young! I remember 28, it was a good year! I think I did my nails back then too! LOL!

Lynette - I'm so glad that you're doing great...great enough to be sitting in front of the computer and keeping track of everything!

Dini - You crack me up! In some former life I'm sure we sat around drinkin' beer and swearing up a storm together! (I'm Mormon now so there's no booze or swearing anymore...sounds pretty dull, but I still have SARCASM!)

JenniferNAz - remember to think of the pre-op diet as a "test" of sorts...if you can be serious about the pre-op then you can be serious of the post-op (and that goes for all of us). This low-carb stuff is crappy, but I'm doing it! And I've decided to do a full 2 weeks, not just 10 days...I'm over-achieving!

Hmmm...how did I gain all this weight? Well, while I was growing up I was always the "fat one" (middle of three girls). But when I look back at pictures of high school, college, etc. I was fairly thin (not skinny, but healthy) and dang hot AND cute! I know I dieted here and there, but it was a 20 lb. loss that I was looking at. When I met my stud of a husband (SOAH - He made this up) I was running three miles a day and eating vegetarian...I was lookin' GGGOOOOOODDDD. THEN, he took me on a motorcycle ride to a burger joint and that was the end of that. Now I ate the meat and everything else that was on the table! I consider myself a "challenge eater" - you know, if you can eat it, so can I! SOAH would make himself something and make me a plate too and since I'm not one of those girls that just orders salad at a restaraunt (because I'm a cool chick, dang it!) I would eat EVERYTHING he gave me. Now, I don't blame him for how I look. I also don't blame the fact that I grew toddlers within my womb (weights of 12-5, 9-13, and 10-4 respectively) because I didn't gain much weight during pregnancy. I blame myself...

Something else to consider: It seems that more recently than ever every time I see an "overweight" (and we're talking size 14 or more) woman on TV or in a magazine there's all this hoopla over how LARGE they are...and then they are talked to like they have a disability that they have to work through to just function! My brain works fine, my body does too most of the time, and I resent people thinking that I am disabled because I wear a size 22! I think scrawny people are disabled because they don't have enough vitamins in their system to help their brain function properly! How's that!?!?!

Getting an error, let's see if this works.

I hope you guys are doing okay. Drop in when you get a chance!

Wow, I get off for awhile and do some things and look at all I've missed! It takes awhile to catch up!!!! LOL No seriously, this is awesome! Seems like everyone is dealing with their own demons and reasons why we have ended up this way, but it will all get better from here on in! I can hardly wait to leave all the baggage behind ... and a few extra pounds, lol:)! It seems we can all move forward together and support one another and that is just such a blessing! :clap2:

Thanks Marcy! I'm w/you on the blame thing. It's all on me. I don't have any kids, so no pregnancy wt hanging around. Just me overeating. That's all. :rolleyes

And I know what you mean about large women in the media. It is so annoying and I'm so over it already. I'm tired of hearing about the anorexic and bulimic folks, too. But obviously since we can't control our wt and what goes into our mouths/bodies, there HAS to be s'thing wrong w/us. Whatever. ;)

Chimboree, I just saw your pics and you are one beautiful lady!!!!!

Thank you, Jeanie. Blushing, again...;)

So it seems the question of the day is 'what made you gain weight?'.

I'm not quite sure if it was brought on by other health problems or if my weight was the cause of those problems. It could be a combo of both. Up until about 10 years ago I was very active. I didn't have a model figure, but I considered myself fit and athletic. I could predict my periods down to the hour. I never got PMS, I never got cramps, I never got mood swings.

Then something changed. I relocated from one country to another. My periods went out of control. They were heavy, painful, had no sense of timing, and my moods changed up and down as a result of all these things. I think. I started gaining weight. The sports and activities I loved were no longer available to me. As the weight continued to increase, so did the health problems. I was diagnosed with PCOS which explained the period dramas. I became insulin resistant, which typically goes hand-in-hand with PCOS. I was told to change my diet and increase my activities to counter. Piece of cake I thought. So I did just that. Only the diet and exercise didn't work. So I started using over-the-counter diet pills in addition. Some small gains, but after a while the pounds started to pile on again.

Off to the doctor for some prescription diet supplements. I took Meridia for 6 months and it was wonderful. I lost a total of 50lbs on that. But my insurance would only subsidise it for 6 months, I was probably 20 or 30lbs from my goal weight, so I figured I'd tough it out for the remainder of the weight. I came off the Meridia and my appetite sky rocketted. It was awful. No matter how much I ate or drank, I couldn't satisfy my hunger. I drank gallons of water to try and curb it, but that only made me bloated. And I was still hungry.

I tried acupuncture with limited results. I tried Atkins and got some good results but also got a kidney stone to boot. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy!

My favorite diet has been the lemonade diet. I feel fantastic when I'm on it and my appetite somehow disappears and all I need to satiate it is another lemonade concoction. But it's not healthy to stay on it for any length of time. This is probably one of the reasons I'm not overly concerned about a liquid diet pre and post op as I know I can do it.

I've recently been having knee joint problems and I believe (as does my orthopedic specialist) that it can be traced directly to my weight problem.

I can lose weight, I know I can. I just can't keep it off. No matter what I do to lose the weight, it always finds me again and brings a bunch of its friends along for company. I want, no, I NEED something permanent if I'm going to have any hope of controlling my current health problems and avoid getting any more.

Right now I know I have no heart problems. I've done a stress echo for that and it's as healthy as an ox. But I fear that'll be one more area on the hit list for this awful disease that is morbid obesity. It's not about will power, I have truck loads of that. It's not about simply getting up from the table. It''s not about beating yourself up on the treadmill. I can and have done all of those things without success. I need help. And I'm hoping this little device that will fit in the palm of my hand will give me the armor that I need to conquer this disease that is slowly eating away at all my freedoms.

*climbs off soap box* ;)

Wow.. you guy's post faster than speeding bullets around here, so much since yesterday.... anyhoo... Chimboree, what a cutie, I love that dress.

Dini, I know how you feel, my fiance says he'll be there for me, but I know deep down he does not approve of my having the surgery, he says it's not necessary, blah, blah, blah. I told him, when you get to be 100lbs overweight, then, you can come back and tell me what's necessary or not.......

As for the question, why am I fat? I started gaining weight when I got my 1st desk job. I can't even blame it on giving birth, 1 month after I had my daughter I was wearing a belly shirt, and that was 9yrs ago. So, when I started working, were were ordering out for luch everyday, chinese, Italian, you name it we ate it,:hungry: snacking at my desk all day, It was always someones birthday, so bring on the cake.. Not to mention my commute was about an hours drive each way, so when I got home exercise was out of the question. So then the weight starting piling on and here I am. I guess I can chalk it up to poor eating habits and lack of exercise.
