Happy New Year Lucky #7's

Congrats to all who made the exercise challenge... I didn't, but that's ok. I'll try again this month. I have been getting out every day with the family to take a walk... I don't consider that exercise, as I don't break a sweat. But it is movement and is better than no movement.

So for everyone who was in the Holiday Challenge, please weigh yourself tomorrow morning and PM it to me. I'll then tally the results, and let everyone know.

Ok, someone has to start this...

Here's my New Year's Resolutions:

1. To track my food intake in a journel

2. To drink more Water

3. To exercise at least 3 x per week (hopefully more)

These are my weight related resolutions. It's always best to make these possible through small steps, so have to work that out.

One really positive thing about 2008... I'm 43 lbs less than 2007, and will never see 250 again!!!! NEVER!

Kathy - I did exercise a lot more than usual in Dec., but the holiday cooking and sweets destroyed any weight loss. I go for a fill on Thurs. the 3rd, my 24th anniversary. I am totally ashamed to go, I lost nothing this month.

I want a fill, but I'm afraid to get too tight. I really don't know how much tighter I could go without shutting completely. Because that did happen once, I am apprehensive.

My resolutions:

I will start using Sparkpeople again faithfully, daily

I will stay below 1000 cals. daily

I will exercise a minimum of 4 days a week

I did Sweatin to the Oldies yesterday, and I was definitely sweating.

Indio - My QVC Christmas present to myself was, the standing mirror jewelery box with the non tarnish lining. My DH hung it on the wall. OMG how did I live without this thing. I love it sooooo. I filled it with my jewelery, and now I realize I need more jewelery! However, another New Year's resolution is, no more spending money.

Weird thing happening - Saturday night I broke out in hives. Sunday morning I still had some so I took Ben. Monday morning I woke up with hives. Took another Ben. Last night I was searching this site and others for hives because I am afraid of band rejection. I can't figure out what's causing this. It's never happened before. I have been itchy for a few weeks. When we went camping for Dec. 9th. I thought I had a few mosquito bites under my arms even thou I was fully clothed outside and it is winter. I now realize it was a few hives. That is where they start.

Hi everyone! I need to report that I've been giving myself way too much of a license to eat these past two weeks, so I gained 2 and 1/2 pounds. I will work hard to get back on track and lose it quickly. If I can't get back on track, then maybe I'll call the doctor and schedule that fill I didn't want to get and turned down the week before Xmas. I think I still feel the restriction, though, but have just been eating alot and not the right stuff....oh well, I feel pretty good about getting back on course. And DH is thrilled with my current weight anyway, just not with the loose skin. Although it isn't that bad. It has been pretty forgiving all in all.

Phyl, Great news about the walking. Keep it up and I agree with whoever said that the scooter will be a thing of the past.

Janet, Hope you are feeling much better by now!

To all, keep up the good work and let's make this the best year of our lives! Like Valerie Bertanelli keeps saying on those damn commercials for NutriSystems, let's hope that next New Year's Eve comes without any New Year's resolutions regarding weight loss.

Happy New Year, everyone!

That was really cute Phyl - Loved It. so true

I bought Dance with the Stars video yesterday and 2 5lbs weights So I did the warm up and the paso something... They don't give the worlds best instruction - but it was fun and then i did some arm exercises with the weights. I figured I could do that watching t.v.

Well back to work tomorrow - and to the Dentist on Wed - to get a tooth pulled:eek: so I will be on Soups for a day or 2...

Well, got my bills paid - and that's about it - haven't taken down Chritmas stuff yet - maybe next weekend...

Brandy - don't feel too bad 2 1/2 is better than 10 and you will be able to lose those quickly.... It's a new year - throw all the junk out....

Back to healthy eating - no more junk - cuz a bite here leads to a bite there -

I'm so excited! Andrew just got home from hunting today....he got his first moose! He was only out less than 2 hrs with his friend and they spotted a smaller one and while catching up to it they saw this one...we measured the antlers and they were 66 1/2 inches! (That's BIG for those of you who don't understand the lingo.) We figure we'll get about 600 lbs. of meat from him! WAHOO!

Marcy, that's one big Moose!!! My DH has hunted in the past, but I really don't like him going. He's a klutz at the best of times, so can only imagine him shotting himself or someone else because he's not paying attention. He's also too much of a city boy, so doesn't understand nature all that well.

I must say, I very jealouse. I love the taste of Moose and other game. Enjoy!

Marcy,

That is one great looking moose!! DH loves to hunt deer and I love the taste of it. Don't think I have ever tried moose but would given the chance. Tell your DH "Congrats"

Why did my editing my previous post cause all those HTML tags to show up? Hope you all can ummm...read between the tags...:)

Who knows???? And why did my GlitterMaker signature go away???? It broke and I can't seem to fix it!! Maybe it's just my computer. I can't see IndioGirl signature anymore either. I tried to redo mine and I can't.

Wow that is one big moose. I have never eaten hunted food. I have always said tha my meat comes from Safeway! Actually any grocery store would do, but I did not grow up in a household where anyone hunted so I have never been exposed to it. I supposed that I would taste it now but there would have been no way you would have gotten it past my lips a few years ago!

I got in another workout with the folks from the biggest loser DVD. I did a different workout (there are 4 on the video) and did it KICK MY REAR! I am lacking energy to begin with and halfway through the video I was pretty certain that I was being tortured! I didn't make it all the way through because I thought I was going to pass out. Instead I finished up my time doing sit ups with the exercise ball. I really wish this lightheaded feeling would go away. I got almost 1000 calories yesterday and was over 800 tonight, so I don't know what is going on right now. I think I vaguely remember this happening after my last fill too, so I think it could be rapid weightloss. I was down another .5 pounds this morning. I am 1 pound away from being 2/3 of the way through my excess weightloss. While that is a great milestone, I am actually looking forward to the one that will follow soon after than. That is right, in just 4.5 pounds my driver's license will have the correct weight on it for the first time since...well... ever:p

Well off to watch the biggest loser.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
