Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Sunny--I'd keep the appointment on Tuesday and until then stick to softer Proteins like eggs and cheese. (Have a ham and cheese omlet--just mince the ham very well.) Keep track of what you are eating either on paper or on one of the online journals so you can identify that the impact the baked potatoes and ice cream have on your daily calorie intake. Have a Protein Shake for one of your meals. Be sure you're drinking enough Water. Be patient, you can make that scale start moving again. You're just going though a nasty period here, but it's temporary. Let us know how things go on Tuesday.

My NSV: I've been taking blood pressure medicine since I was pregnant with my last child 21 years ago. Even when I lost over 100 pounds and was "normal" weight I needed to take it, although my dose has been increased quite a bit over they years. Yesterday, it occured to me that the dizziness I've been experiencing lately may be related to blood pressure issues, so I checked it. It was a very low (for me) 90/60. So today I took only 1/2 the amount I've been taking and have a call in to my doctor. YES!

Lindaa - congrats on your NSV. It's so good to know you can probably at some point get off having to take daily doses of medication for the rest of your life. That's the bleak future I was facing as well. Not any more though!

Sunshine - hang in there. I went on a couple of weeks hiatus from weight loss too. It's frustrating when you know you're doing everything right and you're not seeing any progress for your efforts. I agree with lindaa, keep track of what you're eating and show it to your doctor. You may need a slight adjustment to your band, or there may be something else going on. Best to check with the experts.

I got my second fill on Friday because I wasn't seeing any change in the scales and was able to eat more than I should have been. Friday night was pretty tough for me. I woke up 4 times in the night choking on my own spit. :) I was worried that I'd gotten too much of a fill. It was the weekend and I probably couldn't have gotten hold of my doctor unless it was an emergency. I didn't feel it was at that stage yet. I decided that I'd go for the day (Saturday) making sure I was at least getting Water down so as not to get dehydrated. It was kinda tough in the morning, but as the day progressed it got a little easier. I managed some Soup on Sat night as well.

Sunday morning I made a Protein Shake. It took me an hour to get through that, but I made it without PBing. I had soup for lunch. In the afternoon I treated myself to an iced orange mocha at Starbucks. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but ohmystars it was delicious! :( I had a Protein shake again for dinner.< /p>

Today I start mushies until I feel game enough to venture onto solids. But this morning it feels like I'm too restricted for food, so I'm just having a protein shake again. Maybe I'll try yoghurt and/or some egg salad for lunch. I take my Vitamins religiously and my energy levels are good, despite Aunt Flo being due for a visit this week.

My hubby and son had a sub sandwich from Quizno's on Sunday and I was envious of them for being able to sink their teeth into it. I wasn't feeling hungry or anything, I just missed stuffing my face with food. :embarassed: That's probably a bad thing. :paranoid

The scales are on the downward move again. :whoo:I don't feel hungry. I don't miss being hungry!!! Life is good. I love my band! :biggrin1:

Congratulations Ruby, still no restriction for me.

Some day I'll find my spot, some day I'll have restriction

and how thrilling that moment will be, when restriction finally comes to me.

Can you tell I'm bored?

My secretary and I, are talking about how we are going to cook our shrimp tonight. I have 50lbs. I gave her some. I'm going home today to peel my shrimp.

Hey guys,

Well, I did it. I reached my first goal. I'm now a member of the ONDERLAND group. I hit 199.4 on Sunday morning.:whoo: If I didn't have to go into work then, I probably would of taken 10 minutes to just cry I was so happy. But I had to get to work, so there was no time for that, but what a great day I had.

We leave for Florida tomorrow evening :clap2:to go see my grandma. We're so ready for this trip. I've decided to take on a part time job along with my full time job to help out our financial situation, so extra time is few and far in between for me now. But I just had to come on and let you all know I was still alive, and losing the weight.

Hope everyone else is doing good too. I read back a few pages, and everyone seems to have had there second fill already, and lots of pounds are dropping all over the thread.

Have a great week. And I'll try to stop in every now and again to let you know how I'm doing.

Does anyone remember the WW pumpkin muffins that you got 6 muffins for 1 veggie exchange - I know i am dating my self - some of you only know the point system ponder.gif

I knew you were a WW'er by the tone of many of your messages!! I have spent a lot of time in meetings over the years, it's just too bad I couldn't learn to apply their messages permanently. I am a lifetime member-been at goal twice and lost 20 plus maybe 4 times. Always regained it.

Yep Judy - I was a WW girl - Jenny Craig - Adtkins - Diet pills - you name it i have done it - I was most successfull with WW but never got to goal and jsut like everyone here I have lost it and always regained it...

IMHO WW is the most well rounded program out their - I like getting my Protein - veggie - starch - dairy etc.

IMHO i think that when you just eat protien 24/7 you aren't going to last long with the program that the way it has been for me...

WW has great low fat low sugar receipe - I love the little sayings "better in thee (thrash) than in me" -- That is my all time fav....

Thanks, Jackie. I actually feel pretty good now. All the treatments have worked. Today I ate a Wendy's chili and a cesear salad for lunch without any problems. I just don't know what to do. I don't want to have Fluid removed if I have a good restriction and it is just something I may be doing wrong. Anyone have any suggestions????

I am soooo glad you're doing well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss talking to everyone!!!:)

Hi everyone! I'm just catching up on posts as I've been pretty busy this week. I'm doing well. I've lost 4 pounds so far this week and getting real close to 160's.... I think I'd been retaining Fluid last week, cause i only lost 1/2 a pound yesterday. I can't believe how well it's going. I'm going back through my clothes so fast. Some pants I only got to wear twice before putting them aside. It's a nice feeling and the compliments have been coming fast and furious at work.

Hello Brandy,

I wad banded the day after you. I have only lots 28 pounds. What are you eating each day to loose 4 pounds a week? Can yoy give me an example of one of your days? How much protien? Water? exercise?

Thanks!!

How many WW points to you eat in one day? Do you eat as many as you did pre-band??

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
