Are you pre-op or post-op?

Everyone has different taste buds and different brands, same flavor can taste pretty different. As far as the type of Protein that I use - I only use a whey isolate Protein. It is the purest form of whey protein and you get the most "bang for your buck" nutritionally. You should be able to find a GNC. They have plenty and the workers should be pretty knowledgeable. They should also be able to offer a few samples so you can try before you buy.

In the pre-op stage I stuck to ready to drink shakes. I bought Premier Protein Shakes in chocolate and they were delicious without being too high in fat, calories, or carbs. They can be bought at costco if you are a member.

Best of luck!!

Pre-op (and still sometimes now) I also drank the Premier Protein. Chocolate's pretty good, but my favorite is the Vanilla- believe it or not to me it tastes just like yellow cake with frosting! :)

Now that I'm post-op I still find the convenience of "protein in a bottle" very convenient with my work schedule & have been spending time finding alternatives to the chocolate/vanilla humdrum. Everyone's tastebuds are different, but there's a lot of options out there if you're willing to experiment. Best of luck to you!

I use Jay Robb Protein if anyone is interested in a protein mix that doesn't contain artificial sweeteners. I'm allergic to splenda (sucralose) and sugar alcohols. Just in case anyone else is sensitive or allergic as well. :) sweetened with stevia and the best tasting I've found.

I agree with the above statements your taste buds will changed after surgery don't buy it by the case, try and get samples or check at a GNC.< /p>

I love the Premier Protein - chocolate and vanilla. My wife and 6 year old even loves them and drinks them regularly. We buy them by the case at Sam's.

Try piping rock, it is the cheapest I have found that it mixes with warmer liquids without making "cottage cheese" in your glass. It has the least aftertaste. I use the unflavored and can mix anything with it. I have tried at least 10 different powders and really like this the best. I use the internet to purchase it, and it is shipped super quickly. Also, Bariatri choice has some great berry Protein mixes too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
