My surgeon allowed me to use them right there in the hospital room when she came to visit. Surgery ended at 7pm I saw her the next day at 3pm. Maybe ask to speak with your doctor?

Walk walk walk. I found swaying back and forth like I was hold going a baby helped better than walking sometimes

Take them anyway. They aren't going to hurt you and most everyone on here took them immediately after surgery. Let your doctor know that you researched it online and there is no harm in using the strips so you will be using them. I also put a heating pad behind my shoulders which helped a lot with the gas pain.

:faint:

Let your doctor know you "researched it online and it's OK"?? EEEEK! Just because you read it on the internet doesn't mean it's true.

I was allowed to take gasx but the gas you are experiencing isn't really affected by the strips. Your gas is not inside your belly, it's in your body cavity and all you can do is walk it off. I walked literally for hours after my surgery and I had very little pain once I got moving.

I would never dream of telling you to go against your doctor's orders, especially right after surgery. Call me a crazy rule follower, but if something went wrong, I would forever question myself if I didn't listen to the person I entrusted my life to.

@@nprcowboy Did they give you a reason why you can't? I took mine 20 mins after getting out of recovery. It's true it won't help if the gas is out side the stomach. I didn't have any gas pains but I wasn't going to wait to see I just used them. I would want to know why they said no.

I agree Lipstick Lady! I'm a RN and I just had the gastric sleeve on Monday. I asked about GasX but the gas we have is not 'regular gas' - walk short intervals ... Sit up in a chair .... And walk some more. It takes a few days to go away... Be patient and follow doctors orders. Cynlynn78

I agree with Kgard! WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK!! GasX won't do much for you anyways, but the walking will SUPER HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walk at least every two hours!!!!! In a few days you'll feel so much better and in 7 days, you'll feel like your old self again but get that walking in friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree about the walking! I didn't have any gas pain in the hospital but I did once I was home. Walking for just a couple minutes around the house did the trick.

I truly believe walking saved me with the gas pains. I was walking as soon as I could after surgery and every couple hours after that. I am almost two weeks post op and really never had gas pains. I must have been moving the gas pretty well cause I was "tooting" once I got home. LOL (sorry if TMI)

So get out there and walk, do whatever you can. When I first got home I walked around the house in 15 min increments and as I felt better and steadier I went outside and went longer everytime. Two days ago I went back to the gym and did an hour straight on the treadmill. It felt good but I was tired.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
